Good weekend for you Chris Toce (I know your stalking Bigfooty) to head to WA a day early, fly up to Kalgoorlie on Saturday & watch my boy play Alex Paech.
Imagine picking someone from left field & when you draft him, every man and his dog is going to wonder how he got under their guard (will be right up there with the James Gwilt pick)
You will be hailed a national hero …. go on Chris, I know you want to.

***Footnote: I believe he is mates of ”Goober” so we might even get to see the mum again gringo2011

Also Battle.
193 defender, which we have plenty of, and should get a 2nd rnd pick for him.
Do we have plenty of Josh Battles quality?

He’s been sensational this year (would probably be in the 3-5 bnf range I’d suggest) and after stuffing him around positionally for years we’ve finally got him settled.

He would have some currency (late first or I wouldn’t even consider it actually) but I hope we wouldn’t consider it.

Can’t even entertain the hypothetical of it. He has turned into a key pillar, one we can mould the team around.

We may have several tallish defenders but none that are as tough, as physical, as close checking, and as willing to wear blood as Josh. And he’s the only one of them who can genuinely hold down a key post.

An essential player to our team.

Completely agree.

Coops looked really good as a defender. That would make Tommy Highmore surplus to needs l reckon.

I'd still prefer Coops forward. We don't need another third tall defender but we need another KPF. He might have been good but realistically with Howard back we have way too many tall backs. Coops and Highmore aren't taking Wilkie or Battle out of the side.

That will be the sell on the membership drive next year someone more clever than me can come up with a clever catch phrase

Need Nick Stone to start his Bricklane franchises here. Get him on the jumpers and train our trainee receptionist in barista skills.

Like anywhere, in Hobart it's good but get into the country towns and it a gamble.

Had a cracking stay there in May. Golf at Barnie then headed to Hobart for wine & local footy. Great joint old Hobart town. Coffee at Salamanca Market as good as anything here

Completely agree.
I agree as well, but do think out backline would function a lot better with a Harris Andrews type and if we do, we have him + Doogs. Jweb, Paton and Sincs as your smalls. Then a choice of Wilkie, Battle, Highmore, Coffield as your 3rd talls. Not factoring Hill as I'd much rather him off hf or wing or Clark who needs to make it in the mids. So we would have excess of at least 2 players so we unless there are injuries we would have to be content with1 or 2 playing in the 2s or we could trade 1 with currency to draft a player in that is more fit for needs

Sure but whats the likelihood of us getting a Harris Andrews? In reality theyre is actually only one Harris Andrews (maybe 2 if you include Weitering)

I actually think our best possible backline is

Doogs FB, Battle CHB (interchangeable based on match ups).

Wilkie as the third with the ability to play tall/small.

Coff of 2020 as the interceptor

Sinclair for rebound

Paton/JWeb/Highmore dependent on match ups.

Yeah that's fair as well. Battle will become our own May type. He is improving as the season goes on as well. Plus he's just such a tough unit😀

You are right about Battle and he will only get better, to me we just need a better back up for Howard , to me Joyce just isn't up to the standard.

Having Highmore , Wilkie , Battle and Howard we are set up for next few years for defenders and if anyone thinks we can offload one are dreaming because we are one injury away from having no backup.

Sharman could well be a defender but what happens if Membery or King goes down.

Knowing the club is going all out to secure at least one or two free agents or line up could well look completely different next year.

Big question marks on Coffields position in the team will be answered next year - if he going to fill a role in the backline or played on a wing replacing Wood.

With another preseason under there belt and stronger Milera , Windhager and Owens will only get better and really put pressure on existing players.

I fully expect Jack Hayes to become our true CHF , who will pinch hit in the ruck.

We have a hell of a lot of unknowns
Bytel - has the ability to be anything , just needs game time and we will see if he has the goods we are wanting.

Byrne - has turned his VFL form into the seniors but at 21 could easily take a big step up if given time.

Connolly - has the speed and foot skills to make the grade

Adams - to early to tell

Allison - has not shown to much but then again he is 20 and could easily come good , but then again it is up to the development coaches to make a call on him.

Heath - Looks to have the potential to be a quality ruckman but like all 19yrs need time to develop.

I just don't see Batts ever being that guy. Would much rather a GOP Fullback to focus on the accountable stuff and let Battle off the chain.
Wilkie to keep doing what Wilkie does, then select the others as required. Coffield, Paton and Sinclair makes 6+1 on the bench.
Jweb gets fazed out, whilst Highmore needs to fight for a spot or trade out.

Pato, FB, Wilkie
Batts, Doogs, Sincs
Coff

Not sure the budget stretched far beyond a Aldi pod machine.

Players to supply their own pods.
I have to supply my own at work and am nowhere in the ballpark salary-wise, I'm sure they could manage ;)
( Regular tea, coffee and hot chocolate provided.)

Probablt fair but who are we getting? Anyone half good is ungettable

I'd hold, he either does a Seb Ross or he gets pushed out to depth at Sandringham on a very low wage.
I reckon Dmac and Sinclair coming from the outer to become almost first picked for their position no questions asked would have inspired others to lift this year like Seb. Maybe Seb's resurgeance will inspire Billings to become a top player for us
