With where we are at we need to be aggressive with our current list if those opportunities arise.

The only plays I consider “must keeps” are.

King
Steele
Sinclair
Windy
Owens
Marshall
Wilkie
Mckenzie
Hayes
Long
Sharman
Crouch
Higgins

Whilst some of those names might surprise, they are based on effort and intensity as well as talent.

I am not saying trade everyone else, just listening to compelling offers for them if they arise. This includes the likes of Gresh, Hunter and Coffield.

Have to be honest I'd have a similar list. But I'd also have Clark, Battle and Nas on it.

This thread is depressing
Sorry to hear that 😢

Allow BF’s very own inspirational speaker gringo2011 to rekindle your passion for our great club 👍🏻

Is this Rhys Mathieson business a joke? I refuse to lower myself to supporting a club with “The Barometer”

And we have our very own jester in yourself... who keeps using humour to try to deflect from the real issues at the club.

Sorry I’m not fixing the issues at the club like you obviously are

I can understand peoples attachment to Hunter Clark, the poor kid has been through a lot the last couple of years. He may improve siginificantly at some stage, but I think we have seen enough to suggest he is not going to become the midfielder we hoped for.

We have plenty of players who can play the half back role but desparately need elite midfielders - which there are plenty of early in the draft. If a club like GCS comes knocking I believe the club has to put emotions aside and make the trade.

Forget about attachment.
Its a dumb business decision to trade a player after a poor year when their value is rock bottom.

I don't mind trading him if we get that early draft pick, but i think most will look at his recent stats and offer a third round pick.
I hope we aren't then so committed to "moving him on" that we take it.

Sam Emond , what would he know, I read it from a random on BF.....He's already dying the white parts of his jumper black.
It's very funny. People have been practically anointing him in next years AA team for Essendon for the past fortnight haha.

Debunked a hundred times

A difference of opinion isn't debunked. Looks unsure of himself and won't take shots. Playing in the worst organised forward line in footy. I'd say that's Rattsed.

Steele
Wilkie
Hayes
Sharman
Highmore
Marshall all gops turned into valuable

King
NWM
Owens
Windhager all dps spotted for talent

The academy kids fell in our laps. King was a great get, Wilkie and Hayes were killing it in the star leagues. Highmore possibly delisting material, Sharman struggling to stay in the seniors. Steele was GWS picked and stolen, hardly us out with the clipboard watching hours of under 18s matches.

We have players but we struggle to draft and develop at the same rate as the bulk of afl clubs.

I may have a bit of a case of the "positives" here (its all this legalised pot in Canada you know...)
By I see this Hunter Clark, Ben Long stuff as a sign of progress, slow slow progress.
Why? Well nowhere is it mentioned that Clark is seeking a trade, or the club wants to give him up. The only talk (and its just that) is that other clubs are talking about him as a target. Why is this good? well firstly he's not going anywhere. But secondly We are finally have draft and trade capital that is not just draft picks. Clubs are looking at our underperforming, injury prone and rising players and wondering if they can pull them free, as we have been looking at other clubs.

I like this because it puts us in the position Freo were in 1-2 years ago. A second strong draft, and some smart trading will deliver talented players into capable team structure. Im not a fan of the Pies rise, I think they will drop again next year, I think Freo's is more sustainable. Just a thought.

You can say the same about Sydneys academy kids.

He looked good until Ratten smashed him in the media for taking that shot on goal. It was terrible to do it at the time, but it clearly affected him going forward.

Sapped what little confidence he had left, when in front of goals. Fantastic job, coach.

This is incorrect. That shot on goal was rd1. Higgins then went on to play his best football of his career.

His drop off in form came after his 2nd concussion and him having covid mid way through the year

And I do, they were given them and it's a massive leg up, but I think that the stuff outside their academy stuff is also expertly managed as well. They have 2 gun recruiters. They spend the money where it should be spent on their footy department. They have missed finals twice in 20 years or something. Hard to fault that and especially seeing as most of their academy bonuses have been pretty recent. Like the Storm they just manage their club really really well. Geelong too. The feat of staying competitive while rebuilding is an extraordinary effort with equalisation measures trying to stop you from doing it.

Ratts has a habit of blaming the players and taking no responsibility even when it looks like coaching has been a major part of the problem.

So we agree we need to make list changes because we have stagnented, but when players are spoke about for trade everyones up in arms apart from King i couldn't give a rats @rse who comes & gos i support the club not the player as long as we make progress & keep climbing that's all i ask.
Pretty sure about half reckon it's the coaching.

Also helps when you have your own stadium, own area, star players come over and are basically incognito.....

No good making list changes when the coaching box is not up to it

I had a very high up contact at the Saints for a few years. We were heavily into Steele in his draft year and then kept in constant contact (directly, not through manager) for the next couple of years and finally landed him. We made lots of poor decisions around that time, but not only was that a good one, but it took some tenacity to get him after ID'ing him at a young age. Just thought I should set the record straight on that one.
