Makes sense but unfortunately it can't quite work, money can't change hands as part of an AFL trade (except implicitly by paying a departing player's wages), and Longy won't be on anywhere near enough to offset the Bowes contract.

I find it hard to believe that Bowes would have interest in joining Essendon and Hawthorn but not St Kilda

We had interest before we found out he was owed 850k a season.

If we lose Long, Hill And Clark whilst bringing in other club’s delistees we might as well shut up shop.

This is going to be a very demoralising trade period. If by some miracle we could get three draft picks under 30 that would be very good, but probably means we’re going backwards a step before going forwards.

Is Nick Stevens from Geelong worth a look? Thought he played well in the VFL liked his attack on the ball and a decent mark for an undersized defender. What is the deal with Jarrod Brander thought he played well when given the chance is it off field issues, attitude find it strange.
The issue with Bowes I believe is that he knows that we only want the pick in the deal and given that he would want to go where he is more likely to be played that is probably why we aren't in the conversation. I'm sure we did our due diligence on it.

I’m not a Brander fan, but that definitely fits with Gallaghers narrative and modus operandi.

West Coast played him back and GWS played him forward.

We have it now. But we’d lose it when you pay Bowes the 1.7mil he is owed over the next 2-3 years.

So just because we have it, doesn’t mean spending it on Bowes is the best use of it moving forward.
