We are going to be without 4 of our best 25 players for the first half of the year - without getting any injuries through pre season/up to bye

Early days but we don’t appear to have any best 22 players coming in

So without doing much wrong we could easily go backwards - and it would be fair to say we are already off the pace to finish where we did this year

No we aren't
you cant count doedee as he not on the list

the only best 22 that is not available is murray

we might even land a fish we will get better, reason

age and build
experience
game plan evolution
draw

Evening fellas, I suggested this a while ago but tweaked it given recent events. Mixed reaction last time but how does it look for you now?

WCE:
OUT: F1 (1), 34, 39, 53, Yeo, H Edwards (3679 points)
IN: 4, 9, 21 (4381)

Crows:
OUT: 9, 21, F1 (9) (3816)
IN: WCE F1 (1), Chol, Burgess, H Edwards (3000)

Gold Coast:
OUT: 4, (2034 points), Chol, Burgess
IN: 34, 39, 53 Crows F1 (9) (2690 points), Yeo

Essentially gives you a Doedee replacement, Chol, and Syd Draper next year before a Welsh bid. You still keep busy in this draft with pick 24 and the Doedee compo (end of first round?) which should still get you two of the best 2 SA boys Delean and Moir. Rotham would be an alternative to Doedee if you wanted smaller, more mobile and better foot skills. Any interest?
No thanks.

Are they allowed to trade those future picks if they aren't gaurenteed?? Aren't those picks next year subject to review?
Yes .. it's kind of been accepted that they were given those future picks to spend this year

It was a work around just blatantly giving them an easy priority pick like 2 - and a draft hand 2,3 & 4 (McKay)

AFL has basically said 'here, have a couple of end of first round picks next year, but if you don't spend them we may take them away next year'

They could even bundle them for say an extra 1st round pick next year. Who knows, but the message seems to be spend them now

That's how I interpreted it anyway

Well now that we know Clarry ain’t coming, we’d be a chance to get him.

It’ll be difficult for the Suns to snag all three of their academy kids, right?
With the Chol pick, and sale of #4 .....they'll have the points for all 3 academy kids

Damn.

The pure mid of the draft looks to be McKercher. Would clubs be put off by Tassie coming into the league and poaching him down the track? Would we be brave/stupid enough to take him?

I guess the question is, will TAS actually have a side .....it's been awfully quiet for weeks, since the Public & Govt was rallying around not proceeding with a stadium

The Club would have the inside word on the situation

Assuming TAS does progress .....a Tassie kid would scare me off

It would be so Adelaide Crows to finally draft a gun mid with a first round pick, develop him into a gun and then lose him for nothing to the new side in Tasmania.

I would be ok with taking him, Tassie wont be in for another 4 years at least. That will be our prime window to win a flag during those 4 years. So if he helps us win a flag then it is worth it.

spot on they not allowed to
Pretty sure North have already confirmed that they are allowed to trade those future picks..

Which is a complete joke given the AFL would ”review“ whether north still needed them at the end of 2024 if north still had them..

But thats the whole point..say that they can be reviewed next year to ensure tgey are ontraded this year to secure players / better draft picks.

Since they gifted them, they should have made them mandatory to be used bringing in mature players or they lose them..more 18 year old kids is NOT what they need to get competitive in the short term

Yes, from memory they are both end of 1st round picks

Not tied to where North finish next year

Yet not guaranteed to North next year .. may be reviewed and they lose them

North need to spend those picks this year, or they may disappear into the ether
