So picks 10 & 14, who we getting?
Definitely one of Wilson or Windsor at 10

14/20, take your pick. There’s quite a few in that range that would suit me fine. Picking up Mitch Edwards as a 206cm ruck prospect with one of them would be a priority for me, personally

Be nice to pick up a Brodie Smith level talent with pick 14 if we keep it.

If we don’t get Petty ( which I’m happy to get ) I’d probably trade one into next years 1st round if there are any takers

Otherwise agree with some others re Wilson and O’Sullivan if there ….. after them I like Leake , Graham and the ruck Edwards

Windsor also if still there for pick 20

I actually also don’t have Windsor too far off pick 15 , more like 18-22

Yes re Edwards 206cm athletic with footy talent is hard to come by and very rare
Having pick 14 now, puts us in the wheelhouse to get Mitch Edwards
I have a gut feel, we’ll chase a Ruck at our 2nd pick

I doubt it. It's pretty rare rucks go at 14.

I wouldn't be too surprised if we go Reid and a KPF though for it. I think we see TT as that ruck with us going for and being competitive for Chol.

With Petty unlikely, I’d be looking (with my very limited draft knowledge and talent ID) for something like -

10 - Darcy Wilson
14 - Caleb Windsor
20 - Whoever the recruiters think is the best ruck available

Hopefully in 2024 we can snare a genuine on baller with a pick before Welsh

Nah.. i’m taking a punt on Ashton moir with 20..

get a ruck via trade next year or in the rookie draft this year..

ROB and strawnie arent going anywhere at the moment… unfortunately.

No chance anyone would touch him at 20. A club at 30 probably gets him at market value.

Has to be Edwards (either one) or DeMattia me thinks at this pick.

A kid that has unbelievable skills on both feet including being able to kick them from 50 out on both..

has x-factor, a great mark and silky skills…

that was talked up last year as a potential top 5..

you dont lose that talent.. he’s just had a bad year due to loss of confidence.

Get him into an AFL system, let him build confidence back up with mentoring and training from the best, even get him a shrink to help like we did with sholl and Fogarty… and you have a potential gun player..

probably better than taking a punt on any other random with pick 20 this year..

TT won’t be our #1 Ruck

The Ruck call at #14 is just a gut feel

I’m with you on Moir 😉

Confidence once rocked can be hard to recover. How long did it take Jones to get back to his best?

I agree you don't lose this over night but what's to say last year wasn't just a blue moon year? Whose to say he isn't the next Dylan Williams, amazing u16/17 years then offers very little at the next level?

Would be interesting to see how he would respond to questions about his form in an interview. Serious test of his character getting out of a slump like this and for his sake I really hope he does.

I think we may have our 2023 Hamish "special" guys..flying down to meet him and his family today would suggest we have serious interest.
The mail we had shown earlier interest rings true now...

Wynyard product Geordie Payne’s shift to half-back this season has him firming as an AFL Draft hope, with three clubs travelling to Tasmania to meet with the highly skilled youngster.
Determined to prove a point after he was overlooked for the National Draft Combine, Payne put up impressive numbers in testing at the State Combine in Melbourne on Sunday.

Payne, who turns 18 next month, has had discussions with Adelaide - whose recruiting manager Hamish Ogilvie is a former Tassie Mariners coach – as well as Geelong and Sydney.

He began his football career as a forward, but Wynyard Cats coach Beau Sharman believed he had the attributes to be a gun half-back.

His testing numbers at the state combine backed that up. He finished equal second in vertical jump (72cm), equal fifth in running vertical jump (86cm), third in agility (8.34 secs) and third in 20 metre sprint (2.981
“He showed some really good talent as a forward, but over time we thought he had the qualities of a decent half-back flanker,” Sharman said.

“We tried him there early last year and he’s never really looked back. The half-back line for the Devils program (including Carlton draftee Lachie Cowan) was pretty hard to get into. “There was no doubting his talent there, and my constant hounding with a couple of coaches there helped get him a start at half-back.

“The way he covers the ground as well as his ability to read the play makes him a great halfback flanker.”

AFL club’s interest in Payne has been strong enough for them to jump on a plane to meet him.

“He’s had a few meetings with clubs. We’ve lost him a few times for training to drive to Launceston to meet with a couple of clubs,” Sharman said.

“I think Adelaide are pretty interested in him, and Sydney and Geelong have come down and met with Geordie.

“Adelaide’s had a few guys from Tassie go there. He (Ogilvie) always keeps an eye on the Tassie guys, hopefully he can look after one more.”
Sharman said being overlooked for the top Draft Combine spurred Payne on, who produced some brilliant football in the back half of the year.

“I was very surprised when he wasn’t in the initial combine, and disappointed for him,” Sharman said.

“I think he felt that as well, but over the next few weeks he just put his mind to playing well, and he played some really good footy which smashed down the door.

“He’s trained really hard the last month and got himself in good condition to compete at the combine and do really well. I’m pretty proud of him really.
Of course a Tassie half back.

Quintessential Hamish.

Whats his family like?

We currently hold picks 10, 14 and 20, with talk of 7 from GWS. Decent chance we are only using first rounders this year.

We'd be hoping he makes it to the rookie draft if we're interested.
