Should there be some discussion about Taylor Gould with our third pick? He's an SA boy, 205 cms and although very young he is a real ruck, not a can-ruck, and we only have ROB and Straughnie as real rucks?

DRAFT RANGE: 25-40

SUMMARY:

Goad is one of the most highly developable key position prospects available this year, and will likely push for second round selection on pure upside. Not many 206cm athletes can cover the ground like he does and while he has a ways to go with regards to filling out his footballing profile, will be a difficult talent for clubs to pass up should they seek long-term ruck depth.

Absolutely agree, poor buggers struggled with his groins off and on for 2 seasons, when he's 100% fit you can see the difference re his speed and agility and that booming left boot, virtually carried the SA midfield at the Nationals with his work inside the contest even with his groins giving him grief. His numbers at the Combine show how athletic he can be when not carrying niggles. A real chip off the old block too, Dad John is a legend of the Central Augusta football club both as a Player, Captain, coach and in Admin.

My best mate is one of his teachers and by all accounts he is super professional and a great lad too.

Hmmm, given our history of bidding on players, surely the Burgess trade which seemed a great outcome for us was accompanied by a statement from the GCS recruiter along the lines of:

“So doing this deal will probably give us enough points to get all our academy boys including Graham. That’s assuming of course Justin that no one bids on Graham early.”

I can also see us going for James Leake

Hasn’t got the same speed / power as Graham but is a more natural footballer with similar versatility

Him and George Stevens are my toughest 2 reads as long term players

Stevens as someone with runs on board that might not have much ceiling like a Will Gould…. But might be an absolute gun

And Moir with declining runs on board who has a huge ceiling

Must say I’m always buyer beware on a prospect that shows potential at 17 then doesn’t kick on unless there are extenuating circumstances like injury

I think this off season is showing how rare they are. Lots of clubs seem to be looking for them.
