I suppose. If we think one of our targets for 20 will still be available at 31 (which probably comes in a bit after bid matches?) then I guess so - and more so, if we value 9+10 over 10+14. I don't pretend to know enough about the draft prospects to make a call on that.
I'm all for this trade (14, 20, Melb F2 for 9 and 31).

Wilson and O'Sullivan would be a great haul.

I see a Goad slipping to 31 or Delean/Moir being available as a risk/reward.

In hindsight no-one wanted McAsey because he wasn't athletic ....but everyone now wants O'Sullivan ....strange logic

To be fair at least it sounds like O'Sullivan has a good tank and meets the bare minimum of being a draftee (he wants to play football)

Yes re Will Graham !

Will go higher than some of the Vic fancied guys that get talked up in media

I think as high as our 2nd pick ( matched by GC ) and most likely in the 1st round even though you won’t see him much in media

If we want him bad enough we’d have to bid on him with our 1st pick which is a bit early ( I still think GC matches no matter where a bid comes )
Seems Suns have committed to the main 4, and want to add Williams as well at some stage

Not sure where this lack of athleticism comment is coming from.
Footage I've seen he is far more athletic than McAsey.

The bar is pretty low if the comparison is McAsey. Not only was he slow and had no agility, he also had zero tank. Remember when he collapsed during a time trial in the pre-season?

Provided he is decently athletic for a tall player, actually wants to play football, and (I cannot stress this enough) not a key position defender then it's fine

Their academy needs to be reined in inc NT priority zones. Already now out of control 4-5 top 25 players including a likely number 2 and another top 7-8 ruck prospect. For starters reduce discount to 5-10% only, reduce zoned areas and limit to perhaps 1-2 players per year maximum than can be taken from academies

in 4 years will they have the best forward, best ruck on top of an already stacked elite midfield now being added to. And this time their academy players are saying they don’t want to leave GC.

imagine losing big finals to GC in 3-5 years time, it’s on the cards…

I think I'll go with the Rookie Me guys who watch every game the draftees play over an Age journalist who likely watches very little U18's football throughout the year...

STRENGTHS:

  • Aerial ability
  • Composure
  • Intercept marking
+ Mobility
  • Running capacity
  • Versatility

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Defensive accountability
  • Forward craft

Or maybe AFL U18's guru Kevin 'Shifter' Sheahan who watches most Coates League games and all National games..

Connor O’Sullivan
State: NSW/ACT
State League Club: Murray Bushrangers
Community Club: Albury
Date of Birth: 19/05/05
Height: 198cm

Athletic tall defender who was outstanding for the title-winning Allies at the National Championships winning their MVP award and All Australian honours. O’Sullivan averaged 17.8 disposals at 86 percent efficiency as well as averaging 8.2 marks and providing great rebound to lead an almost impassible Allies defence. He has an exciting natural leap, good speed and elite endurance highlighted with a top 10 placing in the 2km time trial at the AFL Draft Combine, where he recorded a time of 6:11. Also showed he can go forward and have an impact during his time with the Murray Bushrangers.
Oh cmon buddy ....when was the last time Sheehan said a bad word about any player .....he's sugar & spice on all players

Besides, he's just a figurehead these days

So are you saying O'Sullivan is not slow & lacking agility .....just want the record set straight

Instead of quoting others .....no doubt you've seen him play .....your thoughts ?

Remember, McAsey's personal life changed after he was drafted .....lets not try and rewrite history here

You’ve said you like O’Sullivan in the past

Is it that you’d happily take an ‘unathletic’ KPD early on, or that you’ve changed your mind based off a quote?

For the record: definitely wouldn’t call O’Sullivan unathletic

He is athletically sound, skills wise sound, endurance is sound, speed is sound, mobility is sound hence why he is so highly thought of by recruiters. You're McAsey comparison to put it bluntly is laughable.
It was recruiters feedback that was the basis of the article on the players .....not some journo making stuff up

I was simply drawing the comparison ...based on the feedback from some recruiters .....they weren't my thoughts

The fact it hasn't apparently impacted his projected Draft position, says more about his strengths outweighing any perceived weaknesses ......same with McAsey

I love all the pre-draft talk .....nothing wrong with any players in the draft .....all the criticisms start once they get to Clubs

PMBangers set this bloke straight please.
Slow in comparison to what/ who though? I wouldn't say he's an outstanding athlete in the mould of Zane Zakostelsky by any means, but comparative to some of the top KPD's in the game currently (Weitering, Andrews, Moore, etc.) he's stacks up well.

I agree he's probably not as quick as you ideally want, but tests pretty well for agility and leap from memory.
What would your thoughts be on Ollie Murphy's athleticism out of curiousity? better, same, or worse than Connor?

Plenty athletic enough , comfortably more athletic than Harris Andrews

I got PTSD when I read that about O'Sullivan.

No thanks. Sounds like McAsey MKII

19. Ollie Murphy

Has gone from one of the biggest risers of the year to a potential slider. Murphy is still one of the toughest players to place, given his height is coveted down back, he won Vic Metro’s MVP award and he was one of the few defenders to hold their own against Walter. The concerns range from his competitiveness to his so-so speed, as well as an underwhelming finish to the season. But with all that said, Murphy is comfortably among the best key defensive prospects and there are not expected to be many of his kind in next year’s class.

This write up sounds more like another McAsey to me

McAsey on what is for many draftees the best day of their lives:

Nothing will ever beat Tanner Bruhn for looking absolutely shattered after being drafted to GWS.

I worry about Murphy’s competitiveness. In game vs vic country he was beaten on a number of occasions one on one
Yep fair concern , slightly to do with growing alot and being very light at this stage too

Nice reader of ball in flight

If he comes off he could be like Harris Andrews , but he also might tank too .
