I honestly hope we are having a crack at Himmelburg. Think he would suit us better than Cox.

With Worrell, Doedee, Butts, Murray, Milera, Hinge, Michalanney, Jones and possibly adding a Himmelburg/Cox.. Redman really would be surplus to a group that is starting to look promising.
That's actually fair enough - I like that too.

Heard around the traps young Patty Weckert has given all forms of cricket the flick.Anyone else know anything?

If it is the case have to assume someone has convinced him it’s time to focus on his footy. Can remember if this is his draft year or next?

Patty looked really impressive last year for WWT.
It will be interesting to see how he develops this year

Yep aerially he's better than Hayward at the same age but I haven't seen the same footy smarts from him. You're right he will need to grow some height wise because he's certainly more physically developed than Hayward at the same age to be a KPP.
I don't remember there being much discussion about Hayward in his underage year? I wasn't following that closely, but my memory is that came on in his draft year?

I’ve learned my lessons going too early. Long season ahead - Nationals etc.

Just thought it was a bit odd. My mail was that he’d committed to cricket season - B grade district, U18 Shield and SACA state squad. With no notice he’s pulled the pin on all that.

If anyone knows more or if that’s wrong then by all means give me a shout.

Is he a Will Hayward type, ultimately?
Definitely not a Will Hayward type. The Weckert family has a history of tall big males. Would suggest he's now 191cms.
Tex Walker not overly tall and poor overhead for a CHF but has managed a pretty good career.
A little behind in fitness because of his U19 national cricket commitments but is going full bore now.
His first reserves game last year was sensational - 8 goals, just appears to be a natural footballer with a huge kick.
Already has a well developed SANFL/AFL body.

Football has won the intense tug of war for South Australian sports sensation Patrick Weckert.

The powerfully-built 18-year-old has chosen the oval-shaped Sherrin over the small red Kookaburra and now looms as one of the SANFL’s top 2023 AFL draft prospects.

“It was a tough decision to make between the two sports, football and cricket, but I’ve just made the call to give footy a crack because that’s where I feel my heart lies,’’ said Weckert, who played one league game for Woodville-West Torrens last year.
Ah thanks mate. At least I know now an old mate down that way isn’t going senile ha ha.

If this kid is a one of the Brinkworth Weckerts he is going to grow into an absolute beast of a thing.

I think the story goes Hayward wasn't serious about his footy until his draft year then got told mid season by Beatson from the Swans to get serious and get fit! Funny they drafted him after that.

Hayward is a much better footballer than most casual watchers believe and apparently happy at the Swans, joined at the hip to Florent according to Swans board so difficult for us to pry him loose.

Excited about Weckert, a big watch this season

'Weckert family has a history of tall big males' is an understatement. Check out 'Uncle' Trunk...

Poppa Sid was even bigger...

Yep, article today said 191cm.

I think this guy may be the next big thing in the draft. Showing my WWT bias. Already being touted in a few interstate papers.
