Pretty sure Binns has been a strong performer for a significant period and should be rewarded.
We are not making finals, Happy to be proven wrong, Fogarty is a fringe senior level player at best.

I did say Binns should be given a go, would prefer to see him in the side over Fog but they wouldn’t be considered for the same role/s.

It’s not as if we have any other kids banging down the door.

Cowan impressive last week but I’ll assume he’s resting before the bye and working on a few things with his offensive game.

Unfortunately there is (understandably) a lot of sentiment about Jack and his family and its legacy at the club.

I honestly think there is an AFL quality player there in somewhere in JSOS, just not with us.

He needs to go to another club (preferably not St Kilda) and free himself from the burdens and expectations of being a Silvagni.

I don’t think St Kilda could get him. Quite rightly the cries of nepotism if Stephen traded for his son - don’t give me any nonsense about Sos excusing himself from the decision - would be deafening. I could imagine Cain Liddle very feeling vindicated if this did happen.

I am disappointed for Jack but the sad reality is he can’t hit the scoreboard enough and drops too many marks to be an effective third forward. The relief rucking was just a dumb idea. That said I was hoping they might give Jack a go as a defender this week instead of Gov.

This forum has been bemoaning players being put into the team out of position, so if we’re looking for a forward/mid to replace Motlop/Curnow, it’s Fog over Binns.

Fog has been terrific for a few weeks now in the vfl and deserves a crack at the seniors

Jsos is probably one of our smartest, hardest workers. Unfortunately, just not damaging enough

Maybe we should be comparing him to the likes of Martin or one of Gov/Kemp for that forward role
Not sure it helps that at the point he was cementing a role we re-cast him into a no win situation.

People don't appreciate how physically beaten up he would be most weeks.

I think it's total crap. Curnow and Fogarty would struggle to get a game at North yet we play them, Curnow over and over again. I remember the excuse last week was for Merrett which I might add failed dismally. Fogarty is just poo, I cant believe a guy that's played maybe omne or two games over three years could still be there.

I am most definitely in the blame/sack Voss camp now. The bloke literally has no idea what he's doing.
Fogs been pretty good through the midfield this year(VFL), but he's been selected as a forward pocket after kicking a grand total of 1 goal all season.
fmd.
He might be a better deep forward than Mots, Owies and Durds, but why aren't we playing him there in the 2's?

Pretty certain we have Martin & Cunningham to lift this area both of whom have talent, Fogarty is a battler.
Binns is young and untried at this of the year where we at it makes much more sense.

I’ll tell you what shits me about that comment l, not being personal, it’s just really annoying about the narrative we accept.
It’s not just about Silvagni it’s about us as a club.
We don’t use our strengths we focus on our faults and limitations.
If Silvagni is good enough to play, why would it matter which club it is? He’s not a unicorn, he’s a decent footballer and clever teams find ways to use strengths rather than worry about the things he can’t do!

That’s a ripper, common thought is he’s a forward option - 1 goal and not being able to kick more than 40-45m is pretty damning.
Literally there to tackle

I think in all likelihood (not the fault of anyone) that Jack has probably reached the ceiling he can he at Carlton, and needs to go to another club to better himself (away of being burdened by the family name)

Just my own personal view mind you, I am more than happy if we kept JSOS, I just honestly think he would be happier at a new club with a fresh slate.

Reckon you’re right, we aren’t a good enough side to use him to his potential. In a good team system he will shine, we are a long long way from being a good team

Because nothing about this club's selection policy makes any sense at all. Even now in their second year the MC have no idea what our best 22 is.

I have it from the 'Roan's mouth, not of the Blue variety, but from someone really 'close' that JSOS aint ever going to the Saints if his future is not at CFC. He doesn't want to deal with the dad shite again. He may actually really benefit with an interstate move where he can be under the radar, like QLD or Sydney. Gold Coast may be a really good fit for him/us......
Connolly?

:whitecheck: Cuningham bringing more run up forward and minor mid rotation
:whitecheck: Trying Fogarty again, also can bring run and defensive pressure
:whitecheck: Dropping Ed & Motlop to rest

➖ Potential to use spare ruck as a defender instead of a mediocre forward
➖ Newman straight in after a hamstring strain
➖ Leaving Boyd when he's allergic to overlap runs
➖ Kemp as a defender

❌ 8-10 defenders, 6-7 mids, 6 forwards, 1-2 rucks instead of 7/9/5/1
❌ Docherty as a mid
❌ Dropping Jack
❌ Leaving Dow as sub
❌ Leaving Cottrell when he can't ramp disposal and defensive read with game tempo
❌ Not picking Binns

We might physically overwhelm Gold Coast and win, but it'll be an empty victory beyond shifting the dynamics of the forward line.
