Not a stats nerd by any means, but Ollie Hollands had 20 disposals tonight (14 kicks, 5 marks and 2 tackles) against the reigning Premiers.

Probably won't be enough to get the rising star nom this week (its a loaded crop this season) but definitely should get one later in the year.

Well done young man !

A lot to like, a lot that pissed me off

Clearly, last week was mostly tactical, but thought we were way too conservative and sat too deep defensively

This week, a real flick of the switch, and while we really took on the corridor, some lack of composure was frustrating

Still want the ball more in the front half, but the balance was much better

Thought the back 7 and wingmen really supported each other well

Cripps much better in the 2nd half, but Cerra, Kennedy and Ed were outstanding with their intent

Charlie looks like he has another level, and while Harry hasn't cashed in yet, but for me his workrate in the first 2 games has been outstanding. Bags will come

Smalls, output was always going to be better with the ball more in the forward half

Lots to work on, but nice to be unbeaten against 2 contending top 8 sides

I’m hopeful we look back on this game as the platform that built our season. Was very underwhelmed with our play against the Tigers but thought for most of the game (last was slightly iffy but geez they were gassed) we played really good football.

The only thing we still need to learn is to really put teams to the sword when we have our momentum swings. We killed them in the first quarter and really should have been up 20-30 points at quarter time.

Cant be less than immensely proud of the boys just want them to start really believing in themselves and playing accordingly.

AFL must love us right now …. Two close games to start the first two weeks of the AFL season …. Austin should be commended for his recruiting this year … brilliant pick ups!
I reckon I’d we took tigers this week we would have won

Whoever shut down Stengel tonight was an absolute monster.

What a win! Yes it was wobbly at the end but we got there. Cats missing a few but so were we, it was good to play them early while their midfield still seems underdone.

Hollands my god what a beauty. And Acres really impressed me too. Charlie and Cripps were massive and great to see Ed back playing great footy.

Not sure I was watching the same game
Fair enough, I'm refereing to our games against the hawks, port and pies last year where we had dominate a quarter or half (where we established a comfortable lead), only to go into our shells in the last and allow the other team to get a run on.

Watching the Curnow brothers enjoy their backyard dreams on the big stage is something to tip the hat at.
Ed kicking the clincher after lil bro swooped all night is something for the great grand kids, wonderful stuff and kudos to the hierarchy for not giving up on that dream in real time, real Carlton stuff that was!😍

Still work to do, undefeated after the first two rounds, happily taking that start to the year. Lots to like about the rookies, good to see them playing because they deserve to be there rather than them being there because we have no choice but to play them as has happened in the past.
I am not happy with ball movement but tackling and defence in general has really improved which will take us far. Improve big time on ball movement and cohesion and the premiership is there for the taking.

I forgot we had now hewett or Walsh.

Wow!
Thrives on the contest, the last QTR contest and spoil running back with the flight of the ball is what you hope/dream of what your players stand up for…
Already earned a ton of respect from us fans and teammates already…
Reminds me a bit of a young Kade Simpson - tireless & brave

Quick caveat that Geelong were clearly not firing on all cylinders tonight, but glad we fought it out. Best game I've seen Kennedy play, and McKay put up midfielder numbers covering the ground tonight.

Charlie, Durdin and Motlop bringing the attacking power tonight, with Owies getting on the end a bit to finish. Still have my concerns with his mobility, but you can see that he's making good decisions.

Two rucks clicked into place for us late as a screen for McKay to take a few grabs, but otherwise it's going to require TDK picking up a lot of forward craft to account for the heavy legs he's have after centre bounce work. Pittonet was more mobile than I've seen for a while, but he was also far more selective. Balance isn't right there.

Docherty's fitness is a little bit of a worry to me, and it immediately drags down his disposal by foot. Hope he can iron it out. Newman still probably the first defender I'd replace, but like Owies still making good decisions... just rarely hurts the opposition when he does so.

Grain of salt with this result, but happy we got the win.
Wtf is this
