Correct Geelong were missing 2 great backmen and had a few sore but the football public don't excuse carlton when we had 10+ injured and miss finals by a kick.

Wtf are you on about, you’re the first to dig the boots in and completely forget about everything else

Ahhhhh the morning after a magnificent win, boys made us so proud last night.

Couple of things …. we really did play like Voss last night …. TOUGH! That’s been missing for years. It’s what bothered me last week against the Tigers, where we played like boys grrrrr. Was really concerned that the Cats would bully us like they did last year. After sleeping on it I now realise how huge that aspect of last nights and was.

I loved SOS and always will but I have to finally admit that Austin is better at recruiting. Feel dirty saying it but it now appears SOS made some average decisions after his brilliant effort in building our spine. SPS, Dow and LOB were bad decisions with great picks and his latter picks were dreadful at best. He was brilliant in getting bang for our buck at the trade table but once the cuts were made, the currency gathered and then spent on the spine his worth had been exhausted.

Young, Motlop, Durdin, Hollands, Cowan, Hewitt, Cerra, Acres …. Austin’s record is astounding thus far …. The guy doesn’t miss at the trade table or the draft. As for mid season and post draft …. seems to be able to find gems anywhere!

He doesn’t over pay either and seems to have the ability to get guys who are tough nuts but also at their lowest value before they spike (trades).

We are really starting to build nicely and I am starting to believe that this team could now mould into a premiership team over the next few years.

I LOVE THE * TEAM! AND I LOVE THE * CLUB!

Some of the most pleasing things for me, is how we switched gears from last week, and we looked generally comfortable

Tactically, Voss nailed the changes, Pitto allowed us to stretch their lack of defensive height

Eventually, Blicavs was needed in the ruck which allowed Cripps some freedom

I would have sent Ed to to Danger, but Guthrie was completely blanketed by Ed

Good morning brethren.
Feel so much better now I've crossed over to the sunny side.
What a pleasure to laugh and yell, feel proud...Ed makes that happen...and sometimes awed...Charlie does that...
To feel excited watching Holland, and safe knowing our backline have it covered. ( mostly).
To breathe a sigh of relief re game plan. ( oh good, we do still play fast a lot of the time, but have gears.)

Minor gripe with not storming into the last q aggressively.
Felt like we started protective mode way too soon and got in a lot of trouble.
Great game.
Thanks baggers.

A familiar Carlton supporter here actually suggested Docherty's fitness may be an issue. Just ran 14 kms. What's the issue?

He didn’t look like he had any issues. He looked very tackle last night, which means we didn’t need him to be as reactive.

Very important win on the path to where we want to get to.

The 2 newbies are genuine players. With Acres as well, we have solved the wing issues. The 2 main ruckmen played together for only the 2nd time since round 3 last year and showed it is the way to go. The bottom 6 all contributed, which was a big improvement on last week.

The next step is to break sides and win going away. In the 3rd quarter when the margin was fluctuating from 22 to 28, I reckon we were "next goal" from putting the game to bed. That will come and we will be able to enjoy some games without the bloody stress right to the end.

Not one little bit. We copped it for being chokers while Melbourne were missing one player (Tom MacDonald) and I don't think Collingwood had an injury. And yet we should have won both games.

I'm never copping the injuries as an excuse from another team. We have had the worst run. Still missing Hewett, Walsh, Cuningham, Marchbank, Cottrell, Boyd, Williams and probably more. All of those players would be pushing best 22 or on the fringes.

I went a bit early in game day thread.
By the end of the night, Ed C proved me wrong…egg on face.
There are 2 blokes in our team built for finals, Bam Bam and Nic Newman.
They we’re both sensationaL.

I maintain last week was a far better effort than most on here gave credit. If you logged on to this site at any stage during the second half last year, there was a continual agreement we were incapable of winning when unable to play our A game.

Last week we played an opponent who blitzed us in our A game. We very nearly beat them.

My view was always that we match up better on Geelong than Richmond. I was confident going into this week. The boys ground out a very impressive victory. The wings look so much better with Acres and Hollands than they did with Cottrell, O’Brien, Newnes, Setterfield and co.

On to next week. It doesn’t count for much if we let our guard slip against the Giants!

Few random comments:
All the negative nellies predicting a loss - believe.
Why did we win - no one had over 30 possessions
Walsh and Hewett to come...
OMG - Hollands and Cowan

What did you say?

Tonight, I love every single one of you delightful people, but if you mention it in the morning, I'll deny everything.
TODN rolls over in bed, opens one eye...

AAARGH, what have I done?!?

Much better game from little Fish with further room for improvement. I much prefer him working higher up the ground onto the wings, like a high half forward role. He can be really creative with inside kicks going forward and provides a bit of dash. I don't think he is a natural small forward like Mots or Durdin.
