Not getting my hopes up at this point, he’ll be in the 23 minimum

I don’t mind him as sub, as long as he isn’t getting CBAs (which he unfortunately will)
The thing is I’m no McHenry fan but generally his sub games have been better than what Sloane produced. As a sub you want a runner, Sloane can’t run. He was lucky he got good game time due to Butts early injury, but had he come on for a qtr what would his impact have been?

I agree Nicks won’t drop him yet, the best Sloane should expect is sub, if he displaces anyone after that game it’s purely because his name is Sloane. We’ve also got Rach to come back in.

Yeah it’s a strange one, Nicks and the players still seem to be high on his impact, but it’s only the one percenters that Sloane really does well these days. I don’t know if the reason he’s still in the ones is because his name is Rory Sloane, or if they still genuinely rate him as a mid

I agree that the sub needs to be a good runner, it’s why Chayce was good in the sub role last year, and Ned this year. The club doesn’t seem to see it the same way, though

Don't know how current this list is but they've got plenty that are uncontacted past this season. So plenty to work on.

I was just speaking to a family member about the club. Not much will change tbh until those deluded fools running our club are shown the door. Unfortunately it's a boys club down there and they sll have each others back. That's why it's so hard to get them out. They likely have enough self awareness to know they aren't up to it but their ego likes being involved at a footy club. Roo's a prime example.

Hasn’t pretty much every position bar Roo turned over twice in the last 10-12 years. The guys there now have been here for 3 -4 years?

[Confirmed] Sloane offered New deal
Yeah maybe the penny has finally dropped with Nicks that Sloane is not up to it anymore. The club needs to take the decision out of his hands and make the call, he has made it clear he won't put his hand up to retire.
Sloane has been offered another year. I don't see why but maybe they are trying to use up the cap space. Let's hope they do the right thing and play him in the Sanfl all year outside of the midfield.

Where has it been reported that he has been offered a new contract?

My view is we would not have given a pick as high as pick 3 for a player coming off an ACL...no way we generally take the conservative approach. We took Jake Lever off an ACL but he was back running and ready to go his first Preseason.

Wodonga is country Victoria (Hollands), Fish Creek is country Victoria, both players represented Vic Country at the Nationals, Sam Flanders schooled at Lowanna College (Gippsland), Elijah Holland's schooled at Caulfield Grammar (downtown Melbourne).

Sam Flanders is currently uncontacted past this season, Elijah Hollands is contracted for 2024.

We will likely have the opportunity to see both players this week if Hollands holds his place in the team. Will we see Hollands in the midfield against our lads?

Sam Flanders has a brother in WA maybe the WCE or Freo is an option. Elijah Holland's has a brother in Victoria maybe he may fancy Victoria now?
So we applaude and put them on the big screen this week?

I thought the mark over Boak was a "last hurruh" type thing. Like what the hell, I might as well, my last showdown..... And he pulled it off.

Sloane joked at the after match thing that he went up and down and took a chest mark and it kinda had a bit of a vibe like "I'm getting physically past it" to it, but obviously something he's not willing to admit to himself because he still mentally wants to play.

I'm not WILDLY against it. At the start of the year I thought Sloane's contributions were really valuable. Played mainly as a half forward and pinch hitting at stoppages in the last quarter. If we had managed him better (or at all) by giving him more weeks off or as a sub or helping SANFL team, then we might be appreciating his contributions still...

We're not short on half forwards who punch hit in the midfield.

Obviously sounds like we're not keeping Crouch. My mind has really changed on that, I'd actually be quite disappointed.

Stupid decision if true. This is going to be like the end of Scott Thompson's career again, it will tarnish his reputation at the footy club due do how he ends his career. He is already past it now, he is going to be even worse next year.
It can only be, keeping Sloane is on the understanding, he'll be playing a lot of SANFL footy ......any other discussion held with Sloane would be a dereliction of the Club's duty to our young midfielders (current & future)

IMO it was Sloane or Crouch ......surely not both
