The problem is the AFL are using North Melbourne for TV rights money. The AFL is entirely corrupt because it chases financial windfalls at the expense of the competition and its clubs. Its all smoke and mirrors. The AFL dont care about North Melbourne or the actual competition. They care about money and the pay increases they can give each other as a slap on the back for a good job.

A stronger North Melbourne attracts a stronger viewership. The AFL can then use increased ratings for North games instead of the 5 people they attract now to push up the value of the tv rights deal. An increased rights deal means not only more money in the bank, it means more money for the administrators pockets, plus the additional crowd figures North will probably pull means a potential crowd bonus for the execs. Its a game. Its 10000% what i'd do if I was a greedy selfish asshat of a human who gave little to no shit about the actual competition. Its why the game seems like we are perpetually run by amateurs, its because we are while at the same time run by professional crooks.

Its a combination. You wont put North prime time but a stronger North adds value to the out of market games because of the stronger ratings. Off course though you are probably just as right as I am. The AFL is as corrupt as the day is long.

So apparently everyone but Sloane knows the deal about this contract or maybe he knows.

I can't wait for your narrative to change next season when Sloane plays the first 2 months in the seniors from "he's been told he will play SANFL a lot in the year" to "the players in the twos aren't putting pressure on the selectors not to select Rory"

My guess on it is he's holding out that we'll buckle at the last minute to give him the big deal he wants. The longer he doesn't make a decision, the more pressure the club potentially feels from members to keep him, especially when the free agency period opens up.
