The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

They are either trying to revive the old deal or seeing if they can throw together a new one that gets us the compo we want and smoothes salary for them.
I wonder if they've got anyone else on decent coin that might replace Shiel in the deal?

Edit: Just checked & the only possible option is terrifying.

Anyone else get the impression that Essendon well know that the Dow/Henry deals might in part hinge on what we get for Gresh..so are stringing us along to lessen the time we have to do those deals (or any others to get us up the draft board) ?????

I sincearly hope we aren't basing our trade plans entirely on Essendon's actions

I remember the draft when we picked up Raphael Clarke. That was one terry draft year. I’m not sure if there were more then 3 decent players.

Not many are absolutely terrible drafts but that was bad one.

To me the front end of this one looks like there are 6 or so very likely to be good players and then it gets a bit more of a gamble. I reckon later in the draft there will be some talent found but not snap them up types. George Stevens is the perfect player to represent this draft outside the top end. He could be an absolute Sam Mitchell superstar or he could be a Charlie Constable.

Could be a bit of a 2017 draft where some good players come from the middle rungs but plenty of misses as well. Not a very deep draft though.

So 24 hours later and we are still waiting.

Will be lodged in the next 24 hours.

That is a best case scenario and I hope it’s the latter scenario.

My hunch all along has been that they don’t have the cap room to offer Gresham band 2 compo (end of 1st round) and they know we will match band 3 (2nd round).

So we give them cap relief so they can improve their offer to Gresham, but only if it triggers band 1 compo.

Bombers cannot actually table an offer that triggers band 2 within their current salary cap capabilities. The war chest has been spent on McKay, Goodyein and probably Duursma.

I think Essendon is also having to organise a trade and cap space for Dursmaa so Gresham's money is getting stretched. They aren't as willing to pay crazy overs now.

Phil Davis raised some really good points about this the other day on trade radio.

He basically said that the more youngsters on the list, the more stretched your development program becomes and it can result in underwhelming results for players who clearly had talent pre draft.

He essentially insinuated that there is an optimal youth/experience mix ratio, that allows effective mentoring and quality development.

I thought it was very insightful.

Ons great thing we had with Lenny, Milney, Roo, Kosi, Ball, X, Dale, Goose, BJ, etc is that when they were kids we had players like Loewe, Burke, Harvey, Gehrig and Hamill around as leaders, role models and mentors. Give Hamill his due he helped all the forwards walk so much taller with his bullocking on field.

The seniors we have now are a few steps down from those guys unfortunately.

It not totally impossible that they don’t even table an offer for him knowing that it would be significant unders.

How bad would that be?

GCS have 4 picks 23,26,27,31 before our pick 34 so if we get Gresh at 20 then 34 becomes 31 after GCS exchange them for their academy selections. 28 comes into 26 etc.

Geelong have pick 8 and that's it.
They have Estava leaving to Port and Port have Duursma leaving and Zerk Thatcher coming in.
Gresham going to Ess and we get pick 20.
Maybe swap our 20 for Duursma which goes to Geelong and leave Port to haggle with Dildoro until end of next week.
