Easier said than done. I was just stating that North are looking for more picks now. Not next year.
Straight back at you

North aren’t getting 2 2024 first rounders for pick 2 unless it’s a 3-way trade or they take major unders

Just need to work out which club would want to trade out of this draft🤔

Actually the premise would be that by taking our F1 they retain theirs.

In theory their F1 could be 1-5 next year.

Ours is likely 5-12.

If you are trading for a teens pick in the first round this year. One of those represents better value then the other when attempting that for North.

No club is trading out of that top 10 from here.

Reid gives me Rhys Mathieson vibes. I remember people in here cheering when he was still available at our pick :-D We would have probably picked him too if the Lions didn't get him the pick before ours.

Was crushed when Bonner, matho and balic all went before our pick and we got Brandon white. Matho would've been a great value pick for us

Exactly, so a three way trade would mean

we get 2 for 8+F1
Norf get 8 + 2024 1st for 2
Other club gets STK F1 for 2024 1st

Interesting that Richmond is eyeing Smillie at 6. That’s consistent with his interview where he discussed meeting with Yze at the combine. What’s the ramifications, especially if North reach for Tauru? They seem absolutely desperate to trade out of 2.

1. Lalor - Rich
2. Tauru - NM
3. FOS - Carl
4. Draper - Adel
5. Langford/Smith - Melb
6. Smillie - Rich
7. Langford/Smith - StK
8. Allan/Reid/Armstrong - StK

I guess the million dollar question is, and presuming the 7 and 8 for 2 and F1 is accepted how do we view:

FOS and F1 vs say Smith and Reid? I just can’t see NM agreeing to our F1 and 7/8 when it’s against everything they are attempting to do in terms of creating another pick in this draft. Personally I’m a massive FOS fan and next years F1 is probably still a top 3 ‘live’ pick. I don’t hate it.

In relation to how much people want them or similarities as players?

I don't think they could be much different as far as how they play the game.

Wonder if the Dogs would consider 8 for 17 and 25? Then trade 7 and 25 for 2. North get Tauru who they may consider at 2 anyway therefore 25 is a free hit on a decent slider. Meanwhile we get FOS and a slider at 17.

Must admit FOS really does appeal. To the eye he’s the one that has a POD. The way he moves laterally and his overall athleticism reminds me of Judd and LDU.

We won’t be trading both our picks

If we pick Langford and Allan I fear it’ll be Clark + Coff 2.0

Probably not but nothing is 100% as you imply. A lot can change between now and the draft. We may absolutely want someone at 2 opposed to the quality that is available at 7/8. It’s worthy of discussion.
Honestly, it almost isn’t. 7 is prime position to grab a top mid especially given our alleged interest in Allan so there’s no reason to trade 7 out especially since we have 8+F1 as perfect trade bait

The simplest reason that we won’t trade 7+8 for 2 is that we will have too many list vacancies.

As it stands we need to fill 7 spots and 1 rookie. Thats before we even consider crouch.

We won’t get 2 first round picks for our future first. But we could get 2 first round picks sliding 8 back. Because it’s a known commodity.

I would want something else back if we trade pick 8 and a F1 for 2.
Agree with this.

8 & F1 for 2 and F2. That would be my only offer, remembering 8 may as well be 7 in this draft if we strike a deal with North guaranteeing they'll take a tall.

By adding an F2 in there, it also allows us to trade either our F2 or North's F2 in another live trade (having traded our F1 already).

SteeleSaints that was the rumoured deal wasn’t it?

Dunno mate. I reckon 7 isn’t quite prime. I reckon Lalor, FOS and Draper is the absolute cream and pick 2 gives us access to one of them. Although I do like Allan and Langford, Reid not so much.

If we see that it is something we really want to do - North will want another pick this year….add 47 straight or 32 but with their F3 back? As the above stands I just can’t see North doing that. We would hate it in reverse.

There are other ways to fill list spots. I heard we are interested in *Preuss.

*okay that might’ve been a subtle troll.

If Draper lands at Carlton.

Langford crows.

Reid Smillie interchangeable at 5/6 (demons/tigers)

In isolation. The next trade makes it make see.

See below.

I know they are, so use 8+F1 to get pick 2. Leave 7 alone to get Allan. If we get FOS, I’d be ok with Reid

Obviously that’s ideal however the presumption is that North will only consider an extra pick this year considering they have pick 2 and pick 60 odd. So it might be a take it or leave it case which is fine.
Richmond Giants Sydney and even Freo are all open to trading a first rounder out.

The issue isn’t North gaining another pick in the first round from say 14-21.

The issue is that norths future first is likely a top 5 pick. Their current pick is 2.

They can’t find value if Richmond won’t trade 6 + another first.

That leaves a slide down to one of our picks and our future pick which is better value when trading it in for a later first rounder this year.
