Very interesting how most of us wanted Hobbs, recruiters showed in that case that they were spot on.
It was understandable considering we were crying g out for mids since about 2013.

I reckon what that shows is that you can have too many mids. Essendon has a couple of gun on ballers so one position inside mids struggle to get a run. Probably the issue for Jack Bytel too. Ward at the Hawks too. North have guys liker Lazzaro playing VFL even.

Good reminder about why clubs will pick running HBs who may transition because there are multiple running roles available.

I love this categorisation of mids but am too lazy to think about our current mids in these three terms, does someone want to have a go?

Watch the video and sort the following players into one or more of the categories: STRIKE, ENGINE, DISRUPTOR.

(comments about not being as good as the best aren't necessary for this instance)

Windy
Jones
Garcia
Steele
Clark
Byrnes
Stocker
Dow
Wilson
Henry
Phillipou
Macrae
Sincs
Hall

Pfffft, "Engine", "The Strike", "Disruptor", what an amateur... Where's his Rogue? Battle Mage? Come on.

No team will take Travaglia as a half back

Whoever takes him will take him with the belief that he will be a midfielder at AFL level
Not sure that is true he is justifiably in that 8 - 15 range purely on his performances at HB

The midfield scope might be an extra enticement but he is arguably best available even without it. We are all focused on Mids so we have dismissed him but GWS for example would be seeing a Whitfield replacement. Richmond would be picking him as a HB.

I have him high on my list for best available just not a position at HB that is a priority for our list and the midfield potential is optimistic at best.

Only assuming. Could be Jagga.

I’d say it’s likely who Carlton wants and that is apparently FOS

So the draft would look like this if the crows got 2 and north got 4

1 Lalor
2 Fos
3 Jagga
4 Tauru
5 Langford
6 Smillie
7 Draper

Carlton have been linked to Draper heavily.

Yes please. Draper would be my pick if we had Pick 1. I just think he comes in, has an instant impact, and is exactly what our midfield needs. Add an Allan or Reid @ 8, or a Lindsay/Trainor Combo at 15/16 and I'd be in heaven
Look I don’t necessarily under the mechanism of the Adelaide north swap.

But it surely can’t be for Draper at #2

This is why we should trade

One look at pick 1 and the credibility is out the window

I actually think he is the natural pick 1. He's probably the most guaranteed to be a gun out of the top picks. The only reason he's not talked about more is because he's not on the open market.

I want to win the flag and then get the best kid in the draft 😢

It’s been reported multiple times that Richmond won’t bid on Levi at 1

This is why we should trade
I'm not keen on the GWS trade for 8 I think that puts our picks just outside the players I like I am all for a trade with Richmond that bumps them in front of Melbourne if they are both keen on the same player like the GWS trade last year as long as we still get the player we want eg. Say Allan or Reid if you look at the Herald Sun draft posted earlier Allan Travaglia Reid Lindsay Trainor are all gone before the GWS picks

PICK 10 - TOBIE TRAVAGLIA (ST KILDA)
PICK 11 - HARRY ARMSTRONG (MELBOURNE)
PICK 12 - ISAAC KAKO (ESSENDON) *Matching Richmond bid
PICK 13 - LUKE TRAINOR (RICHMOND)
PICK 14 - JOBE SHANAHAN (RICHMOND)
PICK 15 - BO ALLAN (WEST COAST)
PICK 16 - MURPHY REID (PORT ADELAIDE)
PICK 17 - XAVIER LINDSAY (FREMANTLE)
PICK 18 - TAJ HOTTON (GWS GIANTS)
PICK 19 - JACK WHITLOCK (GWS GIANTS)
PICK 20 - JOE BERRY (WESTERN BULLDOGS)
PICK 21 - COOPER HYNES (RICHMOND)
PICK 22 - JONTY FAULL (SYDNEY)
PICK 23 - ALEX DODSON (RICHMOND)
PICK 24 - JESSE DATTOLI (GWS GIANTS)
PICK 25 - SAM MARSHALL (BRISBANE LIONS) *Matching Sydney bid
PICK 26 - CHRISTIAN MORAES (SYDNEY)
PICK 27 - MATT WHITLOCK (RICHMOND)

Maybe we know our targets are going to fall further than this but the Richmond trade if they were keen on Armstrong for example and wanted to beat Melbourne to the punch still leaves us in the mix for the players I like.
8 for 10 & F2/24

Hold fire till the draft and see where the balls drop

Jack Whitlock will go earlier then those Giant picks.

Hotton could land at Freo aswell.

I think there is an argument to be made that Lindsey and Reid or Trainor are live options at that pick.

Or he isn’t anywhere near as bad and as useless as you are making out.

You have some real favouritism to the players you want picked 😂
Despite a great hand at the draft, I am predicting many melts immediately afterwards.

*We should have/shouldn't have split pick 8.
*2 mids/1 mid and the best other player.
*picking for position or best available.

Such a difference in the players or combination of players most want....we've had far too much time to talk about it.

I'm happy being me - haven't watched one video, have no idea who the players are beyond the discussions on here, so will have nothing to complain about on the night.

Sometimes, ignorance is bliss!
:D

There are a lot of talented kids at 8-17 I reckon.

And if you do some research it’s really easy to see why so many are liked by different posters.

If I’m honest, I’m just not seeing a standout talent I’m taking ahead of each of those kids in that bracket.

But i would love to get multiple of them.

Probably Stkilda are linked because GWS wants Travaglia and makes 8 for 15/16 a more juicy proposition

IF GWS are desperate to get 8, and are happy to use 15, 16 & 21 to get it (with maybe 32 coming back) then perhaps they could do the following.

16 & 21 to PA for 13

13 & 15 to Saints for 8 & 32.

Just a thought.

Travaglia keeps getting linked to us at 8 because the majority of clubs in that range are hot for him.

Cal has said as much on his Gettable episodes.

He looks to be the best natural talent at that next grouped tier.
Great. Then give us an offer we just cant refuse.

I can understand what you mean, however the perception was we only drafted half forwards and half backs and missed out on the likes of Bont and Petracca. 2017 Clark was always a mid prospect but Coff was a hb.
2021 was the beginning of us hitting the draft, so In hindsight NWM was a good choice as we thought Chito and Windy would be mids ( Windy still) Then Pou, then Wilson.
I am still on the two mid bandwagon however if say a Tauru was somehow still there, it would not be a bad choice.

Sandy players who nominated for the draft:

Tom Blamires
Will Brown
Josh Docking
Hugo Hall-Kahan
Darby Hipwell
Ollie Lowe
Tarkyn O'Leary
Mitch Ryan
Luke Ryan
Will Vesely
Blake Watson

So I guess we'll be taking one of them?
I've heard a rumour that Hipwell has joined Frankston f.c. for next season. Means he has forfeited his spot as a Sandy rookie. I would assume?

If I had to guess at the current Phantom with NM trading with ADE and STK trading with GWS, it would be...

PICK 1 - SAM LALOR (RICH)
PICK 2 - ASHCROFT (BRIS)
PICK 3 - FOS / DRAPER (ADE)
PICK 4 - SMITH / DRAPER (CAR)
PICK 5 - TAURU (NM)
PICK 6 - LANGFORD (MELB)
PICK 7 - SMITH / SMILLIE (RICH)
PICK 8 - DRAPER / SMITH / SMILLIE (STK)
PICK 9 - KAKO (ESS)
PICK 10 - LOMBARD (GCS)
PICK 11 - TRAVAGLIA (GWS)
PICK 12 - REID (MELB)
PICK 13 - ALLAN (RICH)
PICK 14 - ARMSTRONG (RICH)
PICK 15 - LINDSAY (WCE)
PICK 16 - SHANAHAN (PORT)
PICK 17 - BERRY (FRE)
PICK 18 - TRAINOR (STK)
PICK 19 - J WHITLOCK (STK)
PICK 20 - HOTTON (WBD)
PICK 21 - DATTOLI (RICH)
PICK 22 - JONTY FAULL (SYD)
PICK 23 - DODSON (RICH)
PICK 24 - HYNES (STK)

If we have that combo at pick 8 we wouldn't trade pick nine, however I would love Jack Whitlock, but not him and Trainor, can't see us taking two talls
