We might need talls depth in Brown & Vesely, but doubt they did enough to impress.
None of those who nominated deserve a precious list spot. If we miss Cole, Hoffman or Peckett because of a lack of spots I'll be annoyed more than a very annoyed person who works in the Dept. of Annoyed at Annoyed University.

Are we seriously in the frame for this player?

Nice size at 190cm
Moves very well
These are highlights but his disposal seems very neat
Very instinctive in close with good evasion skills
Can never have enough left footers
Great leap, I remember that last mark in the Champs game, was peak Stringer
I like him much more than Bo Allan.

One of the 6 will slide I will happy with any of them, but Langford plays like a leader who hates losing and I love seeing that. He has been marked down because of his lack of burst speed, but his other qualities are elite and his speed is something he can get specific coaching for and work on. Be nice for he and Elwood to come to the club together, along with Cole and Hofmann from Sandi.

I'm not keen on the GWS trade for 8 I think that puts our picks just outside the players I like I am all for a trade with Richmond that bumps them in front of Melbourne if they are both keen on the same player like the GWS trade last year as long as we still get the player we want eg. Say Allan or Reid if you look at the Herald Sun draft posted earlier Allan Travaglia Reid Lindsay Trainor are all gone before the GWS picks

PICK 10 - TOBIE TRAVAGLIA (ST KILDA)
PICK 11 - HARRY ARMSTRONG (MELBOURNE)
PICK 12 - ISAAC KAKO (ESSENDON) *Matching Richmond bid
PICK 13 - LUKE TRAINOR (RICHMOND)
PICK 14 - JOBE SHANAHAN (RICHMOND)
PICK 15 - BO ALLAN (WEST COAST)
PICK 16 - MURPHY REID (PORT ADELAIDE)
PICK 17 - XAVIER LINDSAY (FREMANTLE)
PICK 18 - TAJ HOTTON (GWS GIANTS)
PICK 19 - JACK WHITLOCK (GWS GIANTS)
PICK 20 - JOE BERRY (WESTERN BULLDOGS)
PICK 21 - COOPER HYNES (RICHMOND)
PICK 22 - JONTY FAULL (SYDNEY)
PICK 23 - ALEX DODSON (RICHMOND)
PICK 24 - JESSE DATTOLI (GWS GIANTS)
PICK 25 - SAM MARSHALL (BRISBANE LIONS) *Matching Sydney bid
PICK 26 - CHRISTIAN MORAES (SYDNEY)
PICK 27 - MATT WHITLOCK (RICHMOND)

Maybe we know our targets are going to fall further than this but the Richmond trade if they were keen on Armstrong for example and wanted to beat Melbourne to the punch still leaves us in the mix for the players I like.
8 for 10 & F2/24

Hold fire till the draft and see where the balls drop
I absolutely agree, for exactly the same reasons.

Langford would be a shot at 7, Allan for 8 or a small slide. Perhaps our guys have different orders from all the herd phantoms! But it’s quite possible it’s not a choice of one or the other. Insert any of the other top tier mids instead of Langford. I doubt he gets through either, but looks likely now that someone will slip through.

Pfffft, "Engine", "The Strike", "Disruptor", what an amateur... Where's his Rogue? Battle Mage? Come on.
It could have been worse, it could have gone down the road of fantasy and started using words like "axe", "shield" and "rapier".

From there, it's only a short step towards Lord of the Rings figurines.

I love this categorisation of mids but am too lazy to think about our current mids in these three terms, does someone want to have a go?

Watch the video and sort the following players into one or more of the categories: STRIKE, ENGINE, DISRUPTOR.

(comments about not being as good as the best aren't necessary for this instance)

Windy
Jones
Garcia
Steele
Clark
Byrnes
Stocker
Dow
Wilson
Henry
Phillipou
Macrae
Sincs
Hall

Anyone bothered enough to discuss this?

My half arsed take:

Windy DISRUPTOR
Jones STRIKE / ENGINE
Garcia DISRUPTOR
Steele DISRUPTOR
Clark ENGINE
Byrnes STRIKE
Stocker DISRUPTOR
Dow STRIKE
Wilson STRIKE
Henry STRIKE
Phillipou STRIKE
Macrae ?
Sincs STRIKE
Hall ?

You could always go into the complaints department, but just don't take the wrong door and end up in "getting hit on the head lessons".

I can understand what you mean, however the perception was we only drafted half forwards and half backs and missed out on the likes of Bont and Petracca. 2017 Clark was always a mid prospect but Coff was a hb.
2021 was the beginning of us hitting the draft, so In hindsight NWM was a good choice as we thought Chito and Windy would be mids ( Windy still) Then Pou, then Wilson.
I am still on the two mid bandwagon however if say a Tauru was somehow still there, it would not be a bad choice.

Both ironically weren't one position inside mids and some questioned if they would be mids in the AFL. Our issue wasn't taking HBFs it was not getting above average players when we did draft them. We drafted mids that were no good too.

I'm not wedded to drafting a position. I just want top end talent. If we think that a player who is a HB or tall forward is the obvious best available you take them.

Nas, Pou and Wilson were all the last shout in the recognised top talent group and here we may be again with p7, but if Norff take a mid l reckon all bets are off.
Sliding one of 7/8 to 10/11 is probably the only genuinely viable option but you'd expect we'd ask for overs for the privilege. Thing is l don't see Richmond that desperate as they have the luxury of both time and wealth.

I really like them both, but one with concussion history and one with a sub AA ceiling, l just dunno.
Langford/Smillie and Allan gets it done for me.
I would prefer to complement Smileford with a faster type like Smith or Reid rather than another power type similar to them. Allen seems like 3rd/4th mid type, I'd be annoyed if we reached for him inside he top 10 with other top mids available.

In fact, I'd be so annoyed that I would quit my job and start working in the annoyed dept at the university of annoyed with Goodinski

Neither Smith nor Reid are faster types and Smith a 95% chance of being gone. Each to their own though. Langers and Reid vary so much in rankings its hard to get a feel for.
Allan is a POD that we lack.
