Those highlights of Langford.
He did not look slow at all
Because he knows when and how to drive his legs which is a unique skill to have. He almost never hack kicks the ball out of stoppage - he always backs his judgement whether it be to take the extra 5 or so metres by foot or to handball to a teammate on the outside. Signs of a high footy IQ and high-level composure

I'm pretty sure Chad Warner was a similar case. His 20m sprint was 3+ secs but he plays way faster because he also knows when and when not to drive his legs out of stoppage to take an extra few metres on foot

Problem with Langford is at what point do you become too slow at AFL level no matter how smart you are. He won't be afforded that sort of space at the level so it'll be interesting to see how he adapts his game

So turns out my 7yo son is a genius and invented a time machine. Just popped over to November 20 and half way through the first round it's looking like this.

Richmond - Lalor
Brisbane - Ashcroft
Adelaide - Draper
Carlton - O'Sullivan
North - Tauru
Dees - Armstrong
Richmond - Smillie
Essendon - Kako
St Kilda - Langford
Gold Coast - Lombard
St Kilda - Smith
Dees - Reid
Richmond - Travaglia
Richmond - Allan

Couldn't stick around for the whole thing but overall the mood was pretty positive.

I’m just going to live in the world that has us grabbing:

One of Draper/Langford at 7

And

Allan at 8

Then pray to anything we trade with the Giants for a pick that gets us Trainor

This one is perplexing. Surely even 3 future 3rds (which I believe they have) doesn’t get it done. But Adelaide may get lucky that’s all they have and north have no alternatives

Adelaide have 3 future 3rd rouders at a time when 3rd rounders are becoming worth very little. If they give them all to North in the pick swap of 2 for 4, that would give North 4 future 3rds,

North could trade these 4 future 3rds to an academy club or club with a father son prospect... but they wont get a high pick like they would have this year because 3rd rounders are severely devalued next year... even 4 3rd rounders will only get you a 2nd rounder in return, when you consider that the trading club needs to make a profit in points

Still worth it for North... they will still get Tauru at 4, and will get an upgrade from their 3rd rounder to a 2nd rounder for 2025. But wont get them back into this years draft, which they would like to do

Gotta say it is a good and overdue change by the AFL, preventing junk picks being traded for 1st rounders

Would u prefer Langford or Smillie, I can't decide
I was thinking hard about this too. Smillie would have the higher ceiling while Langford is more polished and he's ready to play at an AFL level.

With our current state we'r focused on developing our young squad but win at the same time? So in my mind Langford would make more sense for us

The one everyone seems flat about is Travaglia, he could turn out to be similar to NWM.

Have a read of the below from pages 250 up until we pick NWN, hindsight is wonderful but majority were desperate for Hobbs or Gibcus.

I remember being fairly dissapointed in NWM, so my lesson from this is i'm going to form no opinions on any of these players and back the people who are paid very well to form opinions on them. Pointless excercise trying to grade people off grainy 5 min highlight packages which somehow still look like they were filmed in 2011.
