If he’s that good why are we not swapping 7 and 8 with 2? Are we going to make the same mistake we made in 2014..
The bigger mistake would trade out two picks for one in the deepest and strongest draft in years.

So basically we are guaranteed to have two of the following players if we keep 7 and 8.

Sam Lalor
Finn O’Sullivan
Sid Draper
Jagga Smith
Harvey Langford
Josh Smillie
Murphy Reid
Bo Allen
Alix Tauru
Harry Armstrong
Toby Travalgia

….I’m gonna bbbbust

How many midfields have 2 190cm mids lining up at the stoppage at the same time?

Pou and Langford look very similar to me. He looks good as a prospect, but does he fit in a midfield with Pou?
I dont know off the top of my head, but unless someone proves otherwise, I don't think it's an issue unless they are both slow and cant get their hands on the ball.

Beats acting like Sheep

🐑 🤪
Hey my 7yo genius child who invented that time machine came up with a joke the other day. What did the sheep wear to the beach?

A lamb-bikini... he couldn't stop laughing, thought it wasn't too bad at all.

The AFL really should do something to alleviate our boredom in between trade and draft. Even if it's a preview of the top prospects, on each day they interview and highlight a prospective draftee.

Smillie is the ultimate boom or bust player in this draft.

He could easily be the best.

Or he could be a blown pick from very early on.

100%. I reckon absolutely boom bust. Either one of the best or one of the absolute shit trucks. His attitude in the champs really put me off him but he looks amazing on the stats sheets from the CL and did dominate games at that level. He's so big he's been able to push tacklers off but he does get caught quite a bit. If bigger guys can take him down better he might find footy much harder.

Easy solution - hold the draft the day after trade week finishes.

Also doesn’t measure your ability to read the play or reaction times.
100% this. I said something similar a few weeks ago. A few hundredths of a second over 20m isn't a good indicator of whether someone can hit the pack or contest at exactly the right time.

Pou went sub 3 seconds at his draft, but (this year) prior to his VFL stint everyone complained that he was slow and almost a liability in the midfield. When he came back and started hitting the packs with better timing suddenly he was dynamic and showed signs of his ability to be somewhat explosive from the contest.

I didn't watch the Coates league religiously, but when I did I noticed the oppo mids really gave it to Smillie at every opportunity.

I often considered that was a tactic as he was perhaps considered that his temperament was a little fragile by the opposition. I could be way off the mark but you don't see a whole heap of players trying to get under someone's skin the way they do with Smillie. Either that, or he's just not very likeable for some reason.

Part of me hopes the Richmond at 6 rumours are true so that our Smillie decision is taken away from us anyway.

It’s so boring.

Makes it worse that the trade deadline is 5pm tonight and they don’t expect any trades.

Like, what’s the ****ing point? 😂

Its the distraction from exams, which I understand. Although, the kids will be distracted regardless one would think.
Reckon its more that the kids that don't get drafted can be in a pretty ordinary shape straight after the draft.

Asking them to front up for a 3 hour English exam after their lifelong dream has been all but extinguished would be pretty brutal.

The 18-year-old Park Orchards junior, who models his game on Cripps, even shares the same agent – TGI Sport’s Matt Bain – as Carlton’s dual Brownlow medallist.

Tigers list boss Blair Hartley coaches at Park Orchards, where his son plays, and lives only a few minutes from Smillie, although they didn’t know each other that well until Richmond’s recruiting team interviewed him.

Park Orchards- Home of Glenn Archer (Amateur Umpire Assaulter & Cyclist Mower Downer).

AFL list boss who’s clubs owns pick 1 doesn’t know potential number 1 pick whilst one is a coach and the other is a player at the same junior football club.

I can’t be the only one who laughed out loud at that crap.

So my absolute worst combo here would be
Harry Armstrong
Toby Travalgia

and as it stands would still be to very good players, just not the types I prefer.

How about the don't argue on the wing against Footscray for the AIS. If he can do it to a mature seasoned twenty something year old, he will learn to do it on a regular basis.

Average clearance numbers
Should be an important stat to look at for us IMO

Smith 6.8
Langford 6.3
Smilie 5.8

One of those would be great but may not happen.

Lindsay 4.3
Draper 3.8
Allen 3.7
Reid 3.3

Lindsay stood out there as someone I hadn’t really considered, better clearances than Draper and Reid who are touted as top tier mids?

Allens numbers fairly good for a half back with jo midfield craft 😉

No no.. im a fan.. While he could be bust, i think what you've mentioned and what we know about him, if anything, once he gets some aggression in him under Ross, he'll blossom.

Herald Sun

- St Kilda NGA member Adrian Cole is considered likely to attract a bid in the late 30s or early 40s, after St Kilda’s third selection which currently stands at No. 32.

- Another St Kilda NGA member, defender Lennox Hofmann, is expected to receive a bid later in the draft
