A pars defect or spondylolysis is a stress fracture of the bones of the lower spine. These fractures typically occur due to overuse. They can be on one or both sides of the vertebrae. It is a common cause of low back pain in children and adolescents.

That's what Draper has at the moment (caused him to miss combine). He missed the start of the year with stress fractures in his shin.

I know nothing of stress fractures. Are these minor injuries? Recurring? Common? Could they be enough to see him slide to get to us?

“Wanganeen-Milera is a watch unfortunately if your a saints fan”

“ADELAIDE already indicating big years and big dollars for him”
Who is saying this?
Click bait.
We’ll also have a big contract for him. They’ll have to give us a king’s ransom.

I think he'd want to see a bit of on field success. If we get rolling then I think he'll re-sign. I'd be concerned if we are bottom four
It’s not like Adelaide are playing finals.

I think Langford is the best of the bunch.
Will be an incredible player.
I am thinking Langford is coming our way.
Probably the least desirable option IMO

I am a pass on him ,but knowing it will come back and bite me big time
With all selections in our range, the chemistry of the 2 selected not necessarily the gifts of one

Love this!
Our entire draft thread in consecutive posts 🤣🤣🤣

And where should I look for stats on indigenous players feeling a strong pull home from their family? What a ridiculous thing to say.
The idea that they need any more/less support than other interstate players is a misnomer imo. Yes I’d like stats to suggest that they ‘move back’ at a rate any rate then other players.

Chris Cavanagh Herald Sun -

St Kilda is a good chance to further shake up the top 10, with expectations that the Saints will try and split one of their first two picks for selections further back in the first round.
Greater Western Sydney – which holds three later first-round selections – is one club that would be capable of doing a deal with St Kilda, but the Giants say they have not yet been approached.

(Literally 2 days ago the herald sun reported Richmond and GWS were considering deals 😂)

He really isn’t apart from the hair

There is something there. Both are quite unique in the way they play. HC has probably struggled with injury and attitude but some of the stuff he could do was eye catching and exceptional. That game against the Hawks a few years back where he gathered out on the boundary and kicked a couple of goals that looked like they defied physics were very Reid like.

HC lacked or lacks professionalism and has a knack for serious injury but he could have been something special if his attitude had been more focussed. Reid looks more driven without being able to background him.

Nothing like Clark.

It’s a lazy comparison because they are deemed slow.

Both are abstract expressionists in a sea of photo realist portrait artists. They are both creative types who don't fit a mould. Harnessed right these types are doing shit no-one else can. If Jack Steele is a 4 bedroom AV Jennings in East Bentleigh, Reid is a black clad Japanese inspired quasi industrial warehouse style home with obtuse angles and soaring glass walls in North Fitzroy.

If Tigers take Lalor then North / Carlton will likely go Draper/FOS ... saying North dont reach for Tauru .... which leaves Crows with Jagga or Langford though if Draper is available they will take him

And if available I would think Melbourne will take Langford at 5 and then probably Reid at 9

There is no way in world I see Draper getting through to pick 7

Carlton have been linked to Draper heavily and Stavro reckons that they love Jagga too. Looks likely that they'll go for one of those two. They both probably suit Carlton better than FOS despite FOS being potentially the best of this draft but without much to show in 2024..

Luke Dunstan says “hi”.

Where do you think Xavier Lindsay will end up?

I've heard a couple of times that we are seriously into him but think 8 is too high.

It sounds like Mason Wood and his partner did the club a real solid taking NWM under their wings.

He would be a huge loss, but we have other HBF coming through but none of NWM's class.

He's the best player we have drafted since Riewoldt. It would be a disaster to lose him and set us back years.

There is always a pull towards family but clubs are pretty similar environments. If he's got close connections to teammates and in a good space he's not going too be wanting out. Just get onto it now and sign him up while the weather is nice and he's been home.

Doctor these Dunstan Gringo jokes are getting more and more boring. Dunstan hasn't been a Saint for about 3 years, think Gringo has moved on, maybe time FOR EVERYONE to move on?
Though it was a bit of fun coming off gringos flowery building analogy.

You can skip over it you know.

It would be a good year for King to break out and force our way into finals with a young core. Players are wanting out much more these days as loyalty isn't as expected as it was once.

Yep definitely feels like we need to show something this coming season. Keeping valued players, the hunt for free agents, etc.

Just gotta hope we have a good run with injuries and can put some good performances in early to help build cohesion and confidence.

With a bit of luck I can see us surprising the pundits and doing well! 🤙

Which according to Twomey isn’t happening.

He also said the giants weren’t talking to us about pick 8 2 days after the same paper reported they and Richmond were.
Twomey reports what he knows, not what he reads on BigFooty or X. That’s the difference.
