Twomey reports what he knows, not what he reads on BigFooty or X. That’s the difference.
Glad we both agree that this mock draft is as bad as the one that had us passing on Smillie on Twitter by the Richmond fan (who he conveniently slid to Richmond at 10 😂 and They got Jagga at 6) only to split a pick and taking Moraes ffs.

😂

There is always a pull towards family but clubs are pretty similar environments. If he's got close connections to teammates and in a good space he's not going too be wanting out. Just get onto it now and sign him up while the weather is nice and he's been home.
The great man Nicky stuck with us through thick and thin. Nas will do the same.

So we just need North to take Tauru and we would be left with the last remaining 'top 6' mid.

Is there any chance North doesn't take him, especially if they stay at pick No. 2?
North fans say yes.

North fans also say that pick 2 and their future first are all going to land them a bounty.

Everyone seems to think they are taking Tauru regardless and at best they make a small slide down to pick 4.

I wouldn't be mad at Reid and Tauru with our first two picks if the consensus top six mids go before us. Getting a perfect Battle replacement with pick 8 would be fitting.

It sounds very much like we value that 8-20 crop that we want multiple players from that group.

So I’m not sure we take Reid unless he makes it to our new pick or we take him at 7.

Interesting. I wonder if we could somehow swing deals where we split 8 for a couple of top 20 picks and trade our future first plus another pick (maybe 32 or our future 2nd/3rd) and end up with 4 picks in the top 20 or so.

Come away with a Smillie/Langford/Draper/Smith/Reid at 7 and then snag 3 of Lindsay, Allan, Hynes, Trainor, Hotton, Dodson, Armstrong etc

Not interested in Bo Allen, looks a talent, but has Coffield vibes for me (just results wise, not in the way he plays)...
So Bo Allan is giving off vibes of finishing top 5 in the Saints best and fairest in his third season?

Then being struck down by injury repeatedly and traded to another club for way under value?

Then is best 22 at that new club until he is injured again and cannot get back in?

If Bo Allan is giving off Coffield vibes and is not injury-prone, then we should pick him lol.

I want two mids, not guys that could be/may be mids.

I am interested in any of Smilie, Langford and would love Smith if he fell through
One of those and Reid works, or one of those and a pick 8 swap with GWS for a forward and second mid.
I love the idea of Smilie, Shanahan and Haynes... Or Langford, Whitlock and Lindsey...

If its Smith, we have to split to get Haynes as a point of difference to Smith! But really what are the chances he drops through.

This should be a great draft, if we can get a game changer (Smilie) and two more quality players to go with the last few years... amazing!
Allen
Smilie
Haynes
Lindsey

my head is spinning out

Doctor these Dunstan Gringo jokes are getting more and more boring. Dunstan hasn't been a Saint for about 3 years, think Gringo has moved on, maybe time FOR EVERYONE to move on?

Thanks Austinn, we like to stay topical on here. We still haven't got over Alves not putting someone on Jarman in the 97 GF. Not sure we won't still be doing Dunny in 5 years. Have you thought about how different we'd be if we'd not taken Paddy McCartin over Petracca lately?

My guess at what a betting market % chance would be for each draftees to be Pick 7:

49% Harvey Langford
27% Josh Smillie
15% Sid Draper
6% Murphy Reid
3% Other (Jagga Smith, Harry Armstrong, Alix Tauru..)
I reckon you swap Smillie and Langford.

Or atleast that’s how I would be representing the odds if I ran a TAB

Surely North don't go for a pure mid with their first pick wherever it is. I don't know where they'd fit another mid unless they are confident that LDU is gone. To me it's more utility third tall types and wings that need stocking and a few more avenues to goal. Probably a gun KPD too. Lalor or Smilie probably suit because they are multiple position mids though.

You wouldn’t think so.

But again, their supporters think otherwise.

It’s funny when you go around to other boards the opinions and perceptions you learn about.

FYI they all think we are shit and will be bottom 5.

The odd poster that points out what’s factually occurred in the last 2 seasons gets shouted down

Chris Cavanagh Herald Sun -

St Kilda is a good chance to further shake up the top 10, with expectations that the Saints will try and split one of their first two picks for selections further back in the first round.
Greater Western Sydney – which holds three later first-round selections – is one club that would be capable of doing a deal with St Kilda, but the Giants say they have not yet been approached.

(Literally 2 days ago the herald sun reported Richmond and GWS were considering deals 😂)
I feel like dealing with Richmond and getting pick 10 or 11 for next years first is a better trade for us.
Richmond reportedly want to even out their selections between this year and next and everyone thinks we’re shit so our future 1st must hold value. Getting 7,8 and 10 would really fast track a flag tilt.
I guess they might want next years 1st for a trade though. Who knows maybe we could do both and get 7, 10, 15 and 16.We will see.

My feel is that while we might want to split 8 because we rate the players between 8-20 evenly, GWS will want to retain 15/16 for that reason.

Is 7,8,32 better or worse than 7,15,16

I think 8 is only valuable to us if we think there is an 8th talent clear of the rest.

If we see it that we would rather 2 of the next 12. Then it’s irrelevant the pick number

Someone like Richmond or the giants might value that pick a lot higher for a specific player.

G’day Nick hope you’re fit and set for a big preseason at the Kennel mate all the best

Thanks mate.

I'm hoping to be in the limelight a little more now that Bailey Smith has left.

Also keen to play alongside the titanic defensive partnership of Rory Lobb and Buku Khamis.

Rory for All Australian. That's my tip.

Ok, so the point I was making with that bit (And I didn't make it clearly I admit) is that I don't want a guy that COULD be a mid (like Coffield) I would like us to take someone that IS a mid. Yes, that person may start forward or back, but must be a full time mid in two seasons.

Oh and if all we get from this draft is a "best 22" player, I will be disappointed... We need at least one game changer from these two picks, and a top line ball magnet with the other one.

There is only going to be one of those available at our selections in the Top 10. And there is a world that none are there but that’s unlikely. To get a midfielder with a second pick we are talking Gross who is rated in the 20’s. Every other prospect from 8 to the mid 20’s aren’t proven mids.

All this type of talk is mute frankly.
