Neil, is there any chance you can add some more emojis to your posts moving forward?

Fast of mind beats fast of foot most days of the week.

If Reid was a pudgy, treacle slow midget then I'd understand the reservations.

But he's not.

If he can be combined with a big brute of a mid at #7 (Smilie or Langford) then that's a magnificent outcome for us.

Then we trade our F1 back in for Trainor & we are in business.
Parts of his game give me Sinclair vibes, he gets rid of the ball very quickly which is a game breaker. You can’t teach that, a few players have it most don’t. If I recall correctly there were quite a few some months back who didn’t rate Jagga Smith as well. I’d have either without any hesitation at our picks.

lol. Sorry mate.

I’m using both Tapatalk and the BigFooty app and they are both occasionally going haywire.

I might have to just use the website.

This all day. Draper/Langford/Smillie + Reid works beautifully for mine. Our midfield will be cooking with gas moving forward. Trade back into the draft with the F1. Makes too much sense.

Chris Cavanagh (who I don’t exactly think much of) has answered questions on the draft.

If you have a HSun subscription would appreciate if you could post the saints related stuff.

From what I’ve seen on Bigfooty

  • We seem likely to bid on Camporeale
  • we won’t trade with North. Its seems Adelaide is the only option but they are locked in on Tauru at #2
  • Fos Draper Jagga all in contention at 3.
  • Lalor locked in at pick 1

Alright, I’ll settle for a tier list/ranking please.

Doesnt need to be war and peace.

Top 25 will do 🤪.

(Appreciate you and what you do btw)

I thought I had already posted this here before, but it doesn't hurt to post it again.

Tier 1 in any order:
Draper
Jagga
FOS
Levi

Tier 1.5 in any order:

What do you see as being most likely trade option for Saints pick 8 if they were to split it?

Chris Cavanagh

The big watch is on GWS with three later first-round picks. Could they trade two of them to the Saints for pick 8? I think it’s every chance. I can’t see the Tigers trading two of their picks to get another top-10 pick, given they are already very well placed.

What's the latest news with north finding a suitor for their pick 2? Has Richmond ruled themselves out?

Chris Cavanagh

I'd be shocked it if was Richmond now, it won't be Carlton, I can't see it being St Kilda and there's not a lot of incentive for Melbourne to move up. Adelaide (pick 4) is the one to watch, but that looks more unlikely than likely.

Why do so many predictors have Jagga Smith sliding?

Chris Cavanagh

I wouldn’t say Smith is a slider at all. No one thinks he will get past the Saints at pick 8 and he’s a good chance to go before that given there’s interest from Carlton, Richmond, Adelaide and Melbourne as well. It just depends what type of players those clubs at the top of the order are looking for because that top group of midfielders are all a little different.

Thanks for your analysis.
Interesting that you have Langford at tier 2 and not 1.5

We need a pole for who we think we.get with 7 & 8, including trading down options.
Anyone feel like compiling that list of combinations and permutations?

I've had Langford at the same basic spot since the start of the season and he popped off with excellent form. At the start, it felt like I was being overly bullish when everyone had him ranked in the 20s or later... and then suddenly after the Champs he became the new hotness when Cal dropped his list with Langford near the top.

My position on Langford hasn't changed, because he hasn't changed. He's the same player he was at the start of the season with the same strengths and weaknesses. He's improved his stoppage craft a little but that's about it.

He has a poor athletic profile, as confirmed at the combine. Poor 20m sprint and agility tests. That plays out in his game on field. He struggles to create separation at times and as a result has to rush an untidy disposal. I worry that he'll be easy to tag at AFL level. I worry that he won't be effective as a full time midfielder. The rest of his game is outstanding... I do think he'll be an excellent medium sized forward even if the midfield stuff doesn't work out for him.

It was mentioned in an article somewhere in the past week that as Cole, the Hoff and Elwood played a senior game for Sandy that they would be eligible for the rookie spot.
If i was Sandringham or their players , i wouldnt like it. but it might be the only way to pick up a decent sandy player.

I think I’ve decoded the cypher. Apparently St “rain man” Neil thinks Jagga is a chance of making it to our pick. The Dees take Langford and Tigers take Smillie. Let’s hope the genius is correct.

I'm not as sold on Smillie as some ... looks big & powerful with ball in hand but his disposal is so so (his highlights show a lot of kicks missing targets) and I still have huge reservations about his work rate to get from stoppage to stoppage ...a few rumors that he was sick during the Champs but I am not buying it .... bit of a man playing against kids .... so dominates some games but against better opposition is getting found out

I actually hope he is gone by pick 6 but get this feeling he will still be there at pick 7 ...... if its between Jagga & Smillie at Tigers pick 6 they will go Jagga

On Reid ..... lot of love & hate from the boards .... for me there are some guys that are just winners in life ..... I think we all know the type ... good at learning .... good at sport .... good with the talk ..... cool calm and girls (and guys as well) love them ..... reckon he is that type of guy .... led Sandy to a Prem batting alongside Ashcroft .... won the Vic Metro MVP & Vic Metro won the Champs .... he is just a winner ..... has all tools to be a great player

AFL Draft news: North Melbourne consider splitting pick 2 and trading future-first round pick

North Melbourne could take a huge risk in a deal that would see their future-first round pick owned by a rival club. JON RALPH looks at the Kangaroos’ options.

North Melbourne is considering offers for its No.2 pick and its future first-round selection but says securing a pair of key talls in last year’s draft means it will not “overstretch” to find a key forward in next week’s national draft.

The Roos have pick two and a pair of selections in the 60s to take to the national draft and are keen to take three national draft picks to continue to bolster their young talent.

It means the Roos seem certain to make moves to secure another early selection in the top 20 given their only quality pick is the No.2 overall selection.

The Tigers could be interested in moving up to pick two but not in a deal that sees them give up two top 12 selections for that pick alone.

Clubs are also keen to assess the worth of North Melbourne’s future first-rounder, which is likely to be a top-five pick.

CHECK BACK TOMORROW MORNING FOR JON RALPH’S TAKE ON NORTH MELBOURNE’S FULL DRAFT STRATEGY, LIST HOLES AND PREDICTIONS FOR 2025.

North Melbourne General Manager of Football Todd Viney believes the Roos will be making moves before the end of draft night. Picture: Michael Klein

Viney said that the Roos knew the risks of handing over a future first-rounder but have maximum flexibility given they have retained their entire 2025 draft hand.

“We are keen to have at least three picks in the draft,” he said.

“We might end up holding one list spot over. We can trade up until the night.

“We have got pick two and there is interest in that. We have still got a full hand of futures.

“There are still opportunities to look at how we can improve this year’s draft hand.

“If we can get in we will but we have to have the right opportunity in front of us.

“Brady (Rawlings) is in constant communication with other teams and lists and we think something will unfold but we will wait and see

“The whole thing around futures is you don’t exactly know where it’s going to be. At the moment (the future first-rounder) would look attractive to some clubs

“It is a tough competition and it’s hard to improve but we want to win more games.

“You don’t know where it will end up but our future first would look attractive to some clubs who want to look at it.”

The Roos believe Caleb Daniel’s introduction at half back will at times release Colby McKercher into the midfield, with second-year top 25 pick Riley Hardeman to be given chances on the wing.

Ex-Sydney small forward Jacob Konstanty comes with few wraps but the club loved his junior NAB League season before he was taken at pick 20 and believes the hard-tackling pressure forward fills a critical need.

The Roos recruited 207cm ruck-defender Taylor Goad and 200cm swingman Will Dawson in last year’s draft.

While it would surprise if they did not find a way to take a key forward in this year’s draft, Viney said the club wasn’t prepared to go away from its draft order in a desperate bid to find support for Nick Larkey.

“It’s important you don’t try to overreach and look for the needs. We did go pretty heavy last year with those picks and we went early to get the likes of Goad and Dawson,” he said.

“We think talls are hard to come by and sometimes your picks don’t align with that you want so you have to weigh it up. There are some nice looking talls but whether its at pick two, we will have to wait and see. There is outstanding talent all-round.”

Is this a contest with St. Neil to have the most unreadable posts?

Anyone feel like compiling that list of combinations and permutations?

Looking at the Phantoms of SEN, Twomey , and SEN, the following players "might" be available at pick 7 ( 8 with GC Bid ).
Bo Allan, Alix Tauru, Jagga Smith, Toby Travaglia, Murphy Reid, Josh Smilie.
None of them expect Smith or Smilie to go any later than that.

So 8 is possibly the above without those two, and with Lindsay and Armstrong.

If we ended up with GWS's 15 ( 17), potentials that the three above have are :
Trainor, Hotton, Whitlock ( either ), Datoli, Marshall, Hynes.

Lindsay , Allan, Travaglia, Reid, Armstrong unlikely to go with one of the later picks, ( which would be GWS motivation for trading ).
There might be more that we're interested in.
