Get your head out of your ass.

It’s perfectly acceptable if we don’t walk away with a genuine midfielder that fans would be upset.

It’s chasm of a hole in our side that anyone from journos commentators fans and the local bakery owner can see.

To be sold the dream of development after being burned in the past with a very similar situation - isn’t a great starting point.

A supporter and posters on here don’t need to happily clap at everything the club does.

I was okay with losing Battle for the pick.

But my personal point of view is that I won’t be happy walking away without a genuine midfield talent to rival the talent we have across other lines.

They have the currency to move up and ensure they get what they want.

Melbourne and Carlton have both out manoeuvred us in this trade period.

I’ll leave it at that.

I want 2 in case one of them doesn't work out.
You really can't pick a guy in the draft and say , well that's sorted ( Paddy, Goddard, etc etc etc ).

Think I've done that right?

I am starting to get the feeling that the elite 7 mids will all be taken before our first pick.

That said, we will still get 2 really good players with our picks.

But I think 5 & 6 would have been the go for elite mids.

GWS and Swans seeing if we want to split 8. Richmond unlikely as they will focus on getting future picks. Likely scenario is that we keep 7 and 8
What, do Sydney think they can get 8 for 19 and 22? They must think Kane and Dillon are our list managers and they are just entitled to get stuff.

It was implied they would like to get it not that a trade is occurring or likely too.

The only indication thus far of a trade occurring is with GwS and Twomey said at the end that there had been talks.

But it’s all very dependent on who is available on the board at the pick.

Also slim chance North are trading right now.

Time for another crack. Twomey just canned multiple things with your attempt. Including Jagga getting to us.

If a mid falls it’s either Draper Smillie or Langford.

Just to play both sides of this argument.

Reid is a neat kick. He isn’t a Dal or Bont like kick.

Bont isn't an incredible kick either. He's strong and combative, has multiple weapons but not exactly pin point. Dal was more your sweet and creative user. He had a nice balance between speed of thought and clean kicking.

Reid isn't absolute precision, he's creative. His ability to see the play one step ahead of where the game is at that moment sets him apart. He looks average on highlight reels but watching full matches he does stuff that makes his teammates look better. He makes space out of nothing and sees players on oblique angles and has the ball out to them before they even realise they are going to be in the chain. His handball game is elite, his kicking is solid.

What matters is what he can do in an AFL midfield. Sure he can do it against fellow 18 yr olds, but against men? Who knows

I think you could say that about 90% of the draftees. Smilie and Lalor both potential pick ones at different times still have question marks over how they translate to AFL mids.

Dodson and Hannaford highlights added

Twomey has Draper as an option that could potentially land at 7 but has to get through Carlton/Adelaide

My take of a summary of Twomey's latest. I'm using the actual draft positions and ignoring Ashcroft going to Lions. So when i say pick 7 its actually going to be pick 8 but same same.

O'Sullivan 1-5
Langford 1-6 probably not 7.
Lalor 1-5, 6 Unlikely
Smith probably 2-6 outside chance at 1 or 7.
Draper 3-7
Tauru 2 - teens. A lot hinges on whether North want him there.

Smillie 7-11
Armstrong 8-13
Reid 8-17
Allan 7- Mid teens.
Travaglia 8-15

So if the Norfs pick Tauru , we're looking at one of :
Smillie, Smith ( but probably not ), or Draper ( but probably not ).

If they don't get Tauru, we get two of
Tauru, Reid , Allan, Travaglia.

Twomey doesn't really give a top 6 if Tauru doesn't go to North.

Gettable:
Clubs seeing if we split 8 for multiple 1sts (GWS, Swans; not Tigers). Likely scenario we hold

If Langford gets to us, he'd "be one of [our] two calls". Same for Draper.

Same for Jagga but highly unlikely

Tauru in our range. A trade-up option for clubs (via p8?)

Linked w/ Allan. Richmond could pounce at 6 if they think Smillie gets to 10

Hannaford consideration at 32 (if he gets through)

Looked at Armstrong

Linked with Alex Dodson

Smillie 6-11

Reid in our sights

Biggest take away from today’s episode of Gettable.

The Viking sounds likely to be taken by North at either 2/4.

As long as this happens, Draper sounds like the most likely to slide to us. Draper at 7 would be a massive win. He is fun to watch. That breakaway speed!
Melbourne lack of interest in Draper could be very good for us. He'd fit our needs perfectly.
