Tex is delist for me - and no it is NOT his decision - Cook could be his replacement

Milera I would have on the bench and put Nankervis in his spot - this leaves a wing free for any of the others you mention - if not Nankervis then Laird
Hopefully Tex realises his time is up and retires with a big Adelaide Oval send off.

However I can't see where Cook comes into the picture as a replacement for Tex
Cook either plays high half forward or wing I think to get the best out of him even in rejigged forward line?

It’s mind blowing that anyone would try and mount a defence of Nicks coaching. Like literally what have they got to hang their hat on?

I’d love someone to give me 3 points that identify Nicks as a good coach and worth being our coach going forward.
George we will have better luck finding a unicorn than 3 valid points

Well I didnt want to name Gollant :D

I do think Cook has a spot but we run the 2 of Fogarty and Thilthorpe as our main forward targets

Hey I’ve actually dropped it down to 1 and still nothing!
I've got a wild sense of humour, I can't wait to see it, even one. My instincts tell me unfortunately we will have to put up with Mr Nicks for another year because our board are spineless and celebrate mediocrity.. did I mention I am a very sick man because no matter how much us supporters get gaslighted by the narcissistic AFC clubland I will never give up on the club.. this is a cry for help from me 🤣

I prefer running with a 3rd tall because I want Thilly doing as little rucking as possible even on a chop out basis. Best possible scenario he does a similar forward rucking role as Tex and Hawkins do.

I've done a bit more analysis of the 1st round draft picks (2014-23 drafts):

Things of note...
  • GWS and Gold Coast are the undisputed Kings of the 1st round, with 26 & 23 selections respectively. At least GWS have the grace to make a reasonable number of those picks late in the round. 74% of Gold Coast's 1st round picks have been in the top-10, with 30% of them being top-5.
  • Adelaide are the Princes of the late 1st round, with 11x picks in the 11+ range - only GWS (with a ridiculous 16) have taken more in this range. Brisbane is the only other club with double-digit picks in the 11+ range.
  • Only Adelaide, GWS, Gold Coast and Sydney selected a player in the 1st round every year. At the other end of the scale, Port only used a 1st round selection in 5 of the 10 years.
  • North had 5x 1st round selections in 2023. There are many instances of clubs making 4x 1st round selections, but I suspect no other club has made 5 since the 2010 (Gold Coast) and 2011 (GWS) drafts.
  • Richmond & West Coast supporters have reason for concern, given that they've only used 7x 1st round selections over the last decade. Geelong have also only used 7x 1st round selections, but they've compensated by luring obscene numbers of free agents.
Again shows that we have gone with the 'quantity over quality' method with our rebuild. Just bring as many first rounders in as you can and hope for the best. Rather than a trying to target the pointy end of the draft and get in some real quality.

We have been out of finals contention for the last 6 years and have only managed 1 x top 5 draft pick in this time.

ROB being no better?

I don't think he's ever been totally obliterated like Strachan on the weekend?

48 - 16 hit outs

19 - 4 centre clearances
I said that ROB was in bad form, and Strachan was no better

We did downgrade pick 4 to pick 6 (McAsey). Mind you, it should have been pick 3, with Noah Anderson becoming a Crow, if the AFL didn't give Norf a charity pick for Norfing.

The simple fact is that we haven't been bad enough to get a top-5 pick in 8 of the 10 years.

In reality we really only bottomed out in 2020 and 2021. We missed the finals in 2018 and 2019, but we weren't bad enough to land a top-5 pick in either year. Similarly, we rebounded quickly, but not high enough to make the finals, in 2022 and 2023. Let's not forget that we were only kept out of the 2023 finals by one of the 3 blind mice.

Nah wasn't Norf for that one. Gold Coast got the extra pick to keep Rowell and Anderson together.

Rachele is a top 5 draft pick...we couldn't take Darcy or Daicos ahead of him. We traded a Top 5 draft pick for Rankine, which we wouldn't take back if we could. So 3 Top 5 draft picks int total

Every Adelaide player analysed

Should Adelaide be challenging for finals, or did the Crows just overachieve in 2023? SIMEON THOMAS-WILSON looks at where every player on the list is at.
Champion Data stats reveal that just one player for the Crows is ranked as “elite” for 2024, and just seven as “above average”.

Breaking: the crows are shit

Would love to see Tex mentor Welsh through his 1st year on an AFL list. He's still one of the best forwards in the comp when up and running and a mile better than our 2nd best forward. Definitely need to nurse him through, maybe playing mainly home games. If we're a vague sniff of finals next year, a fit and firing Tex makes us a 5 goal + better side.

It's hard for people to get there head around but the leadership from our senior players in the last 5 years hasn't been very good.

He has been mentoring our forwards for years, it hasn't really worked.

Fog has been on our list for seven years and in the leadership group. Time for him to step up.

I also don't think you can rotate a key forward in and out of the team if you are really trying to build something. Midfielders you can but developing teams should be trying to build a structure.

He has been one of the greats but it's time for a fresh start on and off the field.

Which pretty well matches our current ladder position
Rarely do side come back from a 0-4 start to play Finals, we had to have the call go our way against Essendon, win and not draw against Brisbane and then win the close one against Collingwood to have any chance after starting 0-4. With a very young side now and our senior players in Walker, Smith, ROB and Laird in poor form and M.Crouch out for the season we will just continue to slide as the season goes on.

On FOG, he had his highest average disposal and marks last season and is tracking the same this season. In a year when the team is a shit show he is doing pretty damn well.

Shots on goal are down on his average of last year (his highest) but again not easy with the spud train of a team
