Fantasia last two games 10 disposals in each.
Might not seem much but looking at career averages
Fantasia 12.5
Owies 8.85
Motlop 9.36
Durdin 8.0
But the others have a better goal average with Carlton.

If Fantasia doesn't score goals, he needs to do what Fogarty does, but he doesn't.

Intent is there, but he looks just a step behind everyone else.

imo.

Not looking forward to the pro Essendon media spewing forth all the trite bs. Just look at the AFL websites review of our PA match.

Eh, let em spew all they want.

I'd rather our achievements be downplayed than overly hyped.

Think if durdin wasn't so horrendously out of form and mots was fit Fanta would've had most of the season remembering how to play and building fitness in the 2s. Fact is he's just rusty. He's head and shoulders better than durds. I think he's just showing he has hardly played and even trained for 3 full years with injuries + covid etc.

Bit of patience I have a feeling he's going to destroy an opposition soon. Starting to see flashes. He looked a step better against port.

Motlop, Owies and Durdin don't do what Fog does either.
However Fantasia would be behind on certain measures.
My main point really is his last two games have brought him closer to comparison with the others rather than being a standout laggard.

They only get a 6 day break plus traveling back down from the GC

If we win we could move to second on the ladder heading into the bye…

Would also need the Suns to beat * at home, Dogs to beat Pies, Pies to beat Dees and Swans to beat Cats. So probably 2nd or 3rd which would be huge.

If we just won one of the Adelaide and Pies games which we should've we'd be second right now.

Thought Fantasia had alot of nearly moments last night. You can feel it starting to turn for him the more continuity he gets. I thought he ran hard all night and dropped back in defence on numerous occasions to help out. Positive signs I thought.
My opinion, he can nearly moment it for now in VFL. He gets subbed out pretty much in most of his games played. There was an instance in the first where if he put the pedal on should've gotten the ball and delivered in 50, either he's lost all pace or is just not pushing himself hard enough in game.

A bit of Captain Obvious here....BUT...Massive game this week!!

Win this and we are well and truly in the hunt for a top 4 spot, sitting on 9-4. Also gives us plenty of momentum going into the Bye, with a number of handy players ready to return after the bye (Cerra, Motlop, Martin, Cottrell & Pitt/Cuningham/Marchbank available if needed).

Pretty happy with the 10-day break and Essendon returning from GC with a 7-day break. McGovern, Weiters and Saad looked a little proppy last night and batman & Robin have been pushing themselves pretty hard the last month. All could do with a few extra days off.

We look so much better balanced with Williams up forward as an effective goal-kicking small forward and Cincotta closing down their dangerous mids. McGovern and Saad down back just makes us better. Fog makes us better. It's nice to have them back.

Don't think there will be too many, if any changes, unless a player was injured last night or on the track leading up to the match (surely the injury gods have had their fill of fun by now).

Motlop needs a few runs to find his feet. Won't hurt him building up the miles in the 2's. I'm with others re Fantasia, has been warming to his role the last couple of games and is covering a LOT of ground. Not kicking goals but helping out all over the ground. Has a big tank, which Voss likes. I can see him staying in until Motlop is ready (post-bye).

Cinctotta will definitely go to Merrett - who is the key to Essendon. The beauty is, he is so accountable and can go with Merrett on ball or when Merrett goes forward. Will not leave his side the entire game..will be sitting next to him on the bench when Merrett comes off for a breather!

No changes unless Mots lights it up in the 2s.

Cincotta to Merrett.
Fog on Martin.
Gov takes Stringer forward and George gets him in the middle.
Kemp on Langford.
Weiters to 2MP.
MK to keep Ridley away from Charlie and Harry.

Harry v Ben will interesting but I’m not sure Laverde will be able to handle Charlie.

No changes.
I'm sick of bringing players in on limited form, regardless of where we think they sit in the pecking order.
I hope Mots plays a great one and quickly gets back to form, but he has to earn it.

Fantasia might be on thin ice, but he's just played possibly his best game for us so far and seems to be growing into his role and that was on only 55% game time.
A bit of continuity within the playing group is much needed.

While I don't rate Essendon and think their ladder position is flattered by their easy draw, this still won't be a gimme. We've gotta go out there and take this win!

Hypothetically, if Cerra, Martin, Pitto and Mots were all fit and available...who would make way from last nights team?

Only 2 changes for me.

Cerra > Carroll

Martin > Fanta

sub. George
Cerra and Martin were both listed as 3-4 weeks away just this week. Neither will be available.
And if they were somehow a chance, I'd prefer we didn't rush them. Can't take 2 potentially underdone players into a game like this.
