**** yeah! Finally a bit of spice to the trade period, Hawks completely ****ing over the Eagles in their pursuit of Baker. Decent chance that Freo offer up 3 first round picks for Baker and Bolton now, while the Eagles keep Barrass. Would put the Eagles firmly in pole position to get Warner next year though as Freo just won't have the picks.
I just don’t get this from the Hawks. Chase a contracted player who would be huge for them and then give away the centrepiece of the trade.

Yeah you’re right, Barrass stays at West Coast, how is that a good move by the Hawks?

Although 31 years later I remember what a Simile is, and didn't call anyone a square infront of the class again. So the teacher got what they wanted
Isn't Simile supposed to be a top 10 pick in this year's draft?

Agree completely. Doesn't it just mean that they no longer want Barrass, given that they have Battle?
Was going after both of them just insurance?

They can offer what they like, but Port won't be getting Pick 2.

If North were serious they would try and split Pick 2 into 2 first round picks with Freo or GWS and keep one pick and trade the other to Port.

No way would North ever contemplate give Pick 2 for Houston, it would be sheer lunacy.
Imagine giving JHF away for peanuts, and then gifting the same club well overs for Houston. Surely they aren't that badly run.

I don't think it's a great move at all, just like that it adds some spice to a boring week so far!

I think this is about them having more flexibility to actually get the deal done, given they now have 2x FFs and 2x F2s. Would be shocked if the deal doesn't happen, given they've been into Barrass for ages and he's nominated them.

Strive to connect which ever dots you wish to support your agenda.

"Piling on" is a stretch...
Cmon, Laird wasn’t the only senior player to comment.

You’ve inserted yourself into the conversation, you don’t like the bleeding obvious conclusion that senior players and youngsters being treated differently doesn’t help build culture and now you’re wiping your hands of it.

In a weaker draft
I think speculating about a draft a year out is a very inexact science. Besides (to slightly contradict myself), the 2025 WA crop is supposedly very strong. Wouldn't be surprised if the Weagles regard Carlton's FF and, say, 2x F2s as a better deal overall.

If port can hand over their own F1 for Luko and get 12 and 14 in this draft which is stronger would be great work by them.

The fact we'll only have one real pick in this draft is concerning. Granted it's pick 4 and a great pick to have but god there's gonna be some real talent in that 20-40 range that would be better than 5 or 6 of our current contracted players.

No. Barass nominated the Hawks so he isn’t insurance. Hawks will land him - but interesting to see how

Didn’t Saints do a similar thing to Freo a few years back?

Yeah they keep overruling the football director, the only one with football experience and a club legend, that seems entirely plausible and Roo being such a good bloke stays on rather than saying you’re all a pack of useless idiots I’m moving on

Roo is the chairperson of the list management committee and the football strategy committee. He is very comfortably the most influential person when it comes to key football decisions at our club. To argue otherwise or feign no evidence of this is just pure fantasy. You only have to look at the pure emotion dripping from runnin blue's original post, 'Roo gave his soul to this football club'. I mean, talk about teenage gibberish.

Why would the Giants care this much about a late shuffling of picks for Peatling? Seems so stupid this deal is just dragging on over pointless late picks, happens every trade period with all clubs.
They want to get a deal done for Stringer, might get one done for Shiel, and have an academy ruck to match a bid on. They've got a bit to do given you'd think that, with the depth they've lost, they'll probably want a couple of live picks.

Logan Smith is projected to go in the 3rd round, so they may be hoping they can use 46 and then use 53+56 to nab Smith? We'd want picks back for the same reason though as we have Walsh hovering around the same area.
