This was genuinely a family driven decision, ANB never had any intention of leaving Melbourne until circumstances changed with having a child (this is absolutely fact). Port were just caught off guard here, he's exactly the type of player they lack quality depth in after Rioli.

Yes but his answer to why he chose us.
Nothing wrong with accepting the best offer.

FA compensation is the stupidest thing.

The benefit of losing a FA is cap space, so you can get another FA.

This inventing picks is ****ing ridiculous. Every team that finished above St Kilda get disadvantaged because St Kilda and Hawks saw player movement. It’s nonsense.

Thank **** we finished lower than Saints.
i acknowledge the whole competition is highly compromised but FA without a doubt is favouring strong teams over weaker teams. FA are leaving weaker clubs to move to stronger clubs - illustrated again today with Battle moving to Horks on LESS money than Saints offered. How many smaller clubs like Saints, Bullies and Kangas have attracted a big name FA compared to Pies, Cats, Blues and Tigers.

IF you dont compensate the team losing FA you will get an even more lop-sided competition with successful clubs getting stronger and perpetually underclass of smaller clubs. Do we want that? Its a philosophical issue

PS agree about finishing lower than Saints and we all understood the inherent risk of this issue leading into the final few rounds of the year

thinking out loud now that GWS are LIKELY having such a plethora of top 20 ish picks (15,16, end of round one for CumminG)

If 25 is for ANB (hopefully something coming back to help with Welsh points)

do we offer F1 for Peatling AND GWS pick 16 or more likely end of first round compo this year?

You have clubs trading FAs for junk picks to protect their precious imaginary picks the AFL create.

Throw in the formula being secret so AFL can manipulate the **** out of it to fit their narrative.

Amen. When teams get top 10 pick compo for guys like Battle and Ben Mackay you know the system is failing. In the NFL the top compo for FA’s is 3rd or 4th round.

I think I would. But not sure it works with future pick trading.
Thought you couldn't trade F1 and F2?
So us potentially using next years 2nd round pick on Peatling means we can't do anything with next years first round this year?

Sounds fun.
If it's Peatling and 19 for F1

another Crows fan growing up. I wonder if any other club has so many players who followed that team growing up? Probably not is my gut feel

TT, Rankine, Dawson, Tex, ANB and am sure a heap more

EDIT - Hinge, Cook, Max, Burgess also YES and from memory Milera (and Shoey also?). Fog wasnt. Not sure about Dowling and Laird

I think ANB will be the best of the three recruits.

Never going to do the flashy stuff, but very consistent effort & output and works hard. Nails big moments too, whether kicking a clutch goal or making a tackle

Hopefully takes Rachele under his wing and Josh can learn a lot from him

Can I just say that I think a lot of our supporters are underestimating how good this bloke is.

If you watch the Demons over the last few years, he is very very effective.

I reckon he is gonna be a fan favourite pretty quick.

<EDIT> Turns it on against the Paer too ...

So if there are no more changes we will only have 2 spots open for the draft. Pick 4, Welsh and a rookie upgrade.
We still have the option of delisting Burgess. He remains in limbo, with a final decision depending on what draft picks we end up with at the end of the trading period.
