Nah, they wouldn't touch him. Once a player announces they want to go to a particular club there would be no point in taking them. Never works out.
There's always the Nick Stevens precedent...

I doubt Richmond would take him, given the way they've just cleaned out anyone and everyone they could, and their wealth of 1st round picks in the ND. I expect them to fill their boots in the ND, not having any further vacancies for the PSD - and no interest in Peatling even if they did.

Norf & the Weagles may be a different story.

Norf, in particular, have form. They did something very similar with Greenwood.

Not particularly happy if Peatling goes PSD.
if we walked a 2nd player to the psd from gws i would hope we dont want anyone from there anytime in the future.

I doubt it will happen this time. I think both clubs would ultimately agree that we paid a fair price on Hately, picking him up for free in the PSD. We gave them every draft pick he was worth.

This is a very reasonable post, and anyone who strongly disagrees needs to go have a think about things.

This is just a footy board. People who have survived sexual assault or incidents of self harm don't need reminders of that from people making "jokes".

You don't know what others have been through, and you don't know what your words will trigger in them - so it's just not being a dickhead by being considerate towards that.
The trouble with this view is that you would never be able to joke about anything bad because someone else might find it offensive. However, the simple fact is that nearly all humor is about something bad, which is because most of the world uses humor as a shield and a crutch to cope through bad times. I watched my brother on his deathbed still joking about his condition in his last hour of life, and I admire that strength to this day.

The simple fact is that joking about something in no way condones that thing, in fact in most cases it’s the opposite. The understanding of context seems to have become a lost art since the advent of texting and emojis, but I honestly believe that humor is one of the great aspects of humanity, and our ability to laugh when things are at their worst is a true strength of the human race.

That happened 20 years ago - a lot of water has gone under that bridge since then. Give me a few more recent examples

Fair call on the Greenwood example

richmond might be picking bailey smith in the psd say its going
Unlikely. This is looking like a repeat of Luke Ball's move to Collingwood, which happened via the ND (not the PSD).

Delisted and out of contract players have the right to nominate for the full ND/PSD/RD suite, or to bypass the ND and go straight to the PSD.

In the Adelaide/Peatling case, we would need him to nominate for the PSD only, as it's almost guaranteed that another club would grab him before our pick 64.

In the Geelong/Smith case, Geelong are willing to use pick 17 on him - and it's unlikely that anyone is going to use an earlier ND selection to grab him. On the other side of the coin, there's every chance in the world that he gets drafted before Geelong's pick in the PSD.

I'm a betting man and would be all in on that no other club would grab him before us
I would bet heavily on Norf taking him, having previously pulled a similar stunt with Hugh Greenwood.

I'm not aware of any more recent examples. Remember that Peatling had multiple suitors, until he chose Adelaide. There's every chance they'd jump at the opportunity to grab him in the draft.

even more dangerous
st kilda primed with pick 8 after taking their target at 7

i dont think it will happen either, but i didnt think it would take this long to get done either.

I dunno that no one would pick him in the ND. At his best he'd be worth pick 4 even. The risk of course is that he might leave when his first contract is up

Again, if they could get a top 4 pick in a supposed super draft year they might. Is a Smith or Lalor potentially better than the player they could take at 1 next year + an extra year in the system when they are rebuilding. I see a number of possibilities if they wanted our pick 4
It’s not a super draft for level of talent, more for depth of talent. Not sure many of the top group this year make last year’s top 5.
