Interesting

Any read of how keen we are on smith vs Langford?

I rate Langford but Jagga is a star
Crows are the hardest team to get a read on unfortunately, my mate actually left that spot blank when he sent an order to me. Just putting Smith there based on recent info from Jeffcrowe.

Sorry about that, misread. He’s still got basically his whole career ahead of him though, he plays midfield, which I’m sure everyone would agree is more pressing for us than half forward, and he had 6 other clubs chasing him.

It’s more the ANB thing that gets me, to roll over without even talking to GWS first, for a soon to be 29yo half forward, just boggles my mind.

It's stupidity. All we needed was something coming back to add to what we're currently offering and the deal would be done. Have to laugh at the posters that claim that 'we couldn't use anything they gave us back anyway because we don't have the list spots available'. It's almost as if trading future picks was never introduced or we still didn't have a trade target yet to acquire.

Yes, North’s apparent strong interest in Draper came at the SA Combine, which the Eagles got wind of. When did I say any of this was final? I made it very clear things change quickly with the draft, just trying to provide updates as I get them.

Should I stop posting any updates on here? It is a very even draft as we all know, there will probably be another 5 versions of this before draft night.
Settle, not questioning your info but what you wrote was contradictory, you said North are into Draper and then you said Jagga or Langford to North. I missed a question mark

Edit: I see I made a typo, have corrected it. Why didn’t you just ask me if I meant to post Richmond for Lalor or Langford instead of your snide response?
If north take Draper they are idiots, they used pick 1 on JHF and he left after 1 year, not saying Draper is of the same character as horney but I don’t think they’ll take the risk again with other home grown quality players to take instead.

I agree...but Sharpe (assuming he continues his rise) has a higher ceiling than either of those players...a ceiling similar to JHF maybe.
Sharp's kicking looks a slight concern for mine. They'll have to change the flight path around AO as his kicks go higher than Laird's even.

The only reason I could imagine us playing hardball in maintaining a future 2nd is that we see it as a crucial trading token?

If North are keen on Tauru and know Melbourne are just as keen on him at Pick 5, would they be open to trading 2 for 4 and F2, essentially gaining a F2 for free? Means we’re guaranteed one of FOS, Lalor or Draper.

Lalor or Langford to Richmond at pick 1 has been likely for a couple of weeks now, haven’t heard Smith seriously linked there at all yet despite playing in their VFL side.

North’s strong interest in Draper came as a major surprise to the Eagles, hence they changed tactic and decided they would be better off sorting out the Baker trade with pick 3 and still allow themselves a selection early enough to get Allan.

The likeliest options for the Crows as it stands are Langford or Smith, but there’s still another month so of course things can change.

To be fair, I don’t get the impression Sid’s the type of character to sook it up, willy nilly. If he succeeds, he’ll be a club leader in no time

Actually a good draft for drafting quality people at the top end, the only one I’ve seen vague character questions about is Smillie

Draper has zero family ties to either of the SA clubs like JHF though, I highly doubt he’s anywhere near that same risk as JHF. At pick 2 you just pick best available, if that’s Draper then you should be picking him.

Once bitten I would think. JHF slept in the North Melbourne guernsey. Nobody would’ve thought it would've gone that way. I think North don’t go for Draper

I’ve heard we rate smith , but also the others

Crows very hard to pick

Prob doing a good job in keeping everyone guessing is part of their strategy

I also think Draper might struggle to get into their midfield

Wardlaw Sheezel LDU Mckercher

I don’t see him better than any of those

He’d get spot minutes, if Parker and Draper share the ‘5th rotation mid’ time (McKercher could get wing minutes, too)

Certainly once Parker retires (LDU could yet leave after next year, too)

Yep that was also mentioned a couple of months ago too , he’s a medium forward that goes ok

Not sure we he fits in if we take Welsh re list spots
We won't have any list spots if we take Welsh.

I can only assume then that we're looking at him for our SANFL team, with a view to the MSD next year (maybe)?

Characters are very very different.
They might be but JHF sounded and acted like he was going to be a 10 year player for North. With Sid being a Crows supporter I don’t think North go for him when they can go for a Vic lad. They might posture at it and hope we jump and try and trade up but I don’t think they draft him.

Port knew JHF was coming back before he was even drafted.

Sid is a far more grounded and mature kid, he'll stay the course.
