Yes it will, ROB isn’t the worst ruck in the league and we will go to having the worst ruck in the league and with one that will have to ruck out the season.

As it stands though we don’t even have an AFL replacement on the AFL list with Strachan also being injured and if I’m not incorrect the earliest would be the MSD we can bring on a replacement.

What if ROB goes down rd 1? After the MSD?
Another risk is if ROB goes down for 5-6 weeks we can’t replace him and we’re really relying on Strachan to carry the ruck or Murray who hasn’t played first ruck

All of this is just classic short term kicking the can down the road.
Reactive, not proactive.

We need a good, reliable backup for ROB for the now.
We need a promising young ruckman for the future.

Currently we have neither of those things.
And if rumours are to be believed, in 12 months, we wont have ROB either

Perhaps he shouldn't have taken the piss out of us last year after he flopped to the ground. He's not going to be a fan favourite if he comes here, that's for sure.
He's not very smart, a few roos lose in the top paddock. He's a lad, he likes to joke around. He wasn't a fan of either SA club growing up, or even AFL in general was more into soccer.

Think Tex straight out of broken Hill x10

If either SA club shows interest in him he'll jump at the chance but if both Adelaide and Port say no thanks he'll stay at Essendon.

Not that he has many shots, but ROB isnt THAT bad.

Draper is far worse.

Draper seems a bit (~5%) better in the last three years, though what is helping ROB here is he doesn't have the volume of shots Draper has (Draper 69 shots at goal, ROB 23).

I imagine the opposite, all is forgiven once he's ours providing he's performing at a decent click.

Never underestimate the whole "but he's our flog".

Yep if he's being developed as a ruck it means we're down to just Burgess and Welsh as tall forward depth/backup
Yeah, if we truly see Turray as a ruck first and foremost we could be entering 2026 with Fogarty, Thilthorpe, Welsh as our only KPF.

If we liken Welsh to Gollant, that’s like losing three KPF (Walker, Himmelberg, and Burgess). I’m guessing we’ll take 2-3 KPF next offseason.

We might not have the pick for Louis Emmett but local Aidan Schubert looks a really good prospect.

Agreed. Banning Draper because of his kicking is rather fatuous. They are both about 50-50 on accuracy, but Draper produces four times the scores per match!. To argue against him, you need to look at the other stats, e.g., hitouts, marks, etc.

ROB really IS that bad. Happy to agree that Draper is as well.
At least Draper LOOKS like he can kick, unlike ROB who kicks like a Tyrannosaurus Rex with a lamp post shoved up his arse.
