Hey Vader - I think you and I might be on the same page for once here in terms of what Luko brings.

Lukosius is not a lot of things, be there is definitely a place for him in the 22.

The reason I said to name your 22 that didn't have him, was because I would have been surprised if you could find 22 better players to fill the spots from our list.

I think he will be a good addition and provide a receiver with an elite kick that we are desperately short on.

The debate is going to be around cost.

I think it is going to be interesting to see if we can land a midfielder BEFORE the draft. That will change a lot of my assumptions around what we would be willing to pay for Jack.

I have no insider view or confidence in what our club rates highly in terms of pick values - I'm sure that Nicks understands his position and will be pushing every button and pulling every lever to improve ASAP to try and save his skin. I think the prospect of a new draftee being the midfield hope in a few years time is not going to wash with the current staff.

Fully expecting us to trade in players that give a quick sugar hit rather than build us up for a proper premiership run.

We will see.

Oh, and just an observation ... drop the Fabio bit. It's not as clever as you seem to think it is, it's not going to stick.

It's not just Nix looking for a sugar hit, Roo and Kelly both on list managent wanting the same. Arguably Silvers and Reid too. I doubt there'd be any strong opposing voice to ignoring anything beyond 2025. If we've got list spots, won't be at all surprised if future picks are spent this year on experienced players.

Me neither.

And yes - I mentioned "staff" as I agree there is a wave of people that will have priority #1 of protecting their jobs at our club.

Does anyone have insight into what our reputation is like within the industry?

Our repeated failures to attract staff and players suggests people are avoiding us for a reason
It's going to be hard to convince me that relocating to Adelaide isn't the main reason.

Assistant coaches don't even get paid well, so it's completely understandable.

He just looks like he's coming from a long way back physically.
Could do an “Occy”..

Fat 110kgs, unfit, substance abuse, depression, could barely stand up on his board.. you name it..

Cleaned himself up and got fit..

Won a world title.

Us chasing Oliver again worries me. I would much rather we took pick 4 to the draft and bring in one of the gun young mids and back ourselves to improve with the group we already have. We already have a good group of young kids and just need to add some more class in the middle and some more depth which we are trying to do with guys like ANB, Luko and Cumming.

Going all in for Oliver would be a massive risk, we would be giving up this years and potentially next years first for someone who has had a lot of off field issues. No guarantee he gets back to the level he was at prior to the off field issues. You also then have the risk that he unsettles the group and starts to be a bad influence on the group.

To me there are just way to many red flags and risks here.

Oliver is typical of a young man that isn't motivated.

He's won a premiership and has a massive contract and is well paid.

He basically doesn't care and has other things in life he'd rather be doing.

If we are going after him, we better be sure we can help him rediscover that motivation.

Like others though I cannot see this happening given the boys choir mentality we have at the AFC.

Watching Stengle still stings especially when you compare how Geelong looked after him with the recent incident compared with Rachele's goal celebration. Good clubs know what's really important and how to get the best out of professional athletes. AFC don't know how to do this.

Always thought Carey’s whole body composition looked totally different after his year off, looked so much ‘thicker’ especially through his hips and trunk, maybe it was just the visual vertical to horizontal stripes change… Even with his shoulder/neck/cut knee problems the common perception is still that the fitness staff totally stuffed him up by not training him like an older athlete when he arrived but instead making him do far too much running/leg work than he should’ve done and had ever done before when he was at North.

You reckon his trunk got thicker on that season off?

Ans people wonder why he was so popular with the ladies

My 2 cents on Oliver.

If i'm going to take a risk, and I agree its certainly a risk. I would like to do it under 2 specific circumstances
1) Risk has a low cost (I don't think he's at a Bowes deal yet, but it would need to be cents on last years dollar).
2) Risk has a high payoff, (and a 27 year old, 3 x AA Mid, 4 x Club Champion would tick that box)

So if Melbourne are motivated to move on from Oliver, and not asking the king ransom expected last year, then yeah, i'm kicking the s**t out of those tires.

Who said anything about pick 4 being used for oliver?..i hope its not coming from our club!!

If there's better, less risky options then by all means I'm happy for the club to move on from Oliver

We don't have enough talent to stand still though. Adding some games played to our youth by itself isn't enough.

Cumming free agent
Oliver, ANB and Demons F2, F3 for Crows F1 and Pick 25
Demons F2, F3 to GC for Lukosius

Another one of your fake stats

He played 21 games this year 22 last year 13 the year before and 22 the one before that

He played 78 games from 89 and one season missed 10 games

Not sure '' repeatedly '' is correct but at least it suits your fake narrative
Vader care to at least acknowledge this and Mutineer posts about this?

Id like to get him and see him on the wing to be clear. I think he can do a lot more than they think he can. My worry is does he want to run or does he just want someone delivering him bullets and kick goals. if its the latter then it would be a NO
We could maybe try him on a wing. It's not as if we have any great wingers who he'd be fighting for a position with. I don't hold any great hopes of it being a successful experiment though.

People would much rather go to Geelong than Adelaide …… Adelaide has all the aspects of life you’d like …. except culture

You think a deal could get done without pick 4 involved?? I can't see it myself. We offered 2 x first rounders last year.

I don't recall us offering 2 x firsts last year, but whatever his value last year it's gone down considerably this year.

If we are looking at Oliver, we should be looking to reduce the length of contract/ have Melbourne pay the TTP difference, or they give us a pick so they can offer $1.5million to Mac Andrew next year.
