But in recent years we are full of success stories that weren’t high draft picks:

  • soli
  • nank
  • keane
  • murray
  • butts

Surely it comes down to the 2 x FS not being up to it?
this proves that hamish loves to find the roughy. its the challenge.

i saw an analysis though and we havent really had many more screw ups than anyone else.

Then they're the ones with a problem not the club.

Just because they were great footballers they need to come to terms with the fact their boys weren't up to it...there's no nice way to break that to parents that can't see the truth.

The club gave both boys a chance at an AFL career that no other clubs had even a passing interest in and with Luke the club was up front, subsequently that looks like the correct decision too.
God you're good at going off on tangents. Last time: in the context of this discussion, it doesn't matter what you think and it doesn't matter if the club was right. In the context of this discussion it only matters what the Jarmans and Edwards think.

A garage is where you park your car.

It's sad that former players are feeling this way decades later.

Cal Twomey is usually bang in with his draft predictions. A month ago he had Draper ranked as the 7th best mid this year.
No idea why so many on here are saying he’ll go to WC at 3, none of us would have the slightest clue how it will pan out.

Cal Twomey’s 2024 Draft Predictions
He's only accurate very close to the draft because he gets the inside info... He's not accurate far out

$300K for playing less than half of games...

Not surprised Suns want to keep Rosas.

No chance they want to keep Lukosius though.
Not a bad gig if you can get it.

Rosas plays into the small running chaos ball Hardwick loves, he just needs some work.

Agree on Luko, he's exactly the opposite. TBH he's probably not the sort of player Nicks likes either. Not a defensive bone in his body, doesn't appear to work hard enough.

Won't get drawn into whether or not Nicks is the right man or not (he's not) but he does expect a level of effort from his players.

Why did we draft them?
Couldn't handle the pressure that was going to come from the fans if we skipped our first possible F/S selections. So they picked them going in knowing they weren't gonna make it, so I doubt they paid much attention to them at all.

Spot on.

It was an error that compounded.

Instead of them just becoming a Stefan Jarman who no one remembers and had no impact, we turned this into a negative.

That reeks of them landing no one and needing to say See we tried, we were ambitious to stave off criticism. So go for an ungettable target.

Like we do
