You’re in an arms race with Richmond atm for Pick 2 is all I know
I’d say we are the fall back option and Richmond are in the drivers seat.

I think it ends up with them, but I dream of

Gaining: 2,15,16,21

For

Net loss: 7,8,32 + F1

Outside of their cotton on partnership, it’s substantially cheaper to live along the bellarine than it is to live along the peninsula by comparison.

Money goes further, and lifestyle in infinity better down that way.
I lived down on the Bellarine peninsula a fair while back, and it was a very nice place to live. But going back in recent times, the place is getting overdeveloped and unrecognisable in some parts- nice open paddocks now covered in cheap housing developments and generic outer suburban retail chains. Looks like property developers have been given carte blanche.

Either way it's a win/win (if you are in the Smillie camp). If Richmond gets pick 2, then they will likely not take Smillie and we get him at 7. If we get pick 2, then we get one of the top mids either FOS/Lalor/Jagga etc.

The only club North can logically trade-down with (apart from us) is Richmond.

This is assuming (after comments from Brady Rawlings) they will only trade-down a few places with pick 2.

If Tigers won’t trade pick 6 as part of an upgrade for pick 2, then I don’t think North has any other options other than Saints. No other club in the top 10 is either prepared to, or is able to, shuffle their picks.

This is assuming North definitely want to trade-down and it seems as though they do.

Lots to play out. But if the above scenario is true then we just sit tight and hold our nerve.

Imagine the melts if we ended up taking both Tauru and Armstrong at 7 and 8 lol. Even though both look good.

Would be very happy if we took Tauru from his highlights package.

Aerialist that can play either end the ground.

Has X factor that will draw people through the gates.

Obviously we need another quality young mid so they will target one.

So we re-rookie Crouch and pay his 500k or whatever it is so we can have an extra main list spot for the draft?
Yep, we were paying his $500k either way but at least now we open up another draft pick.

Somebody above said only half his salary would fall under the cap.now, I didn't think that was the case but if it was that would be a bonus, I'd probably be happy to pass that onto NWM to keep him happy with the SA clubs sniffing around.

We only be doing that pick 8 swap if the chips don't fall our way at 7 I reckon

If we get a Smillie / Jagga / Langford at pick 7 ... I reckon we use pick 8 on Allen and try and use our F1 to grab one of the GWS picks

If Smillie / Jagga / Langford / Reid aren't available at pick 7 and we have to use it on Allen then we split pick 8 for those later GWS picks

If Tigers & North do a swap then you would imagine one of those highly rated mids will fall to us

Of course this all depends if the story about us wanting Allen are true

It also could be that we actually don't rate Smillie & Reid now after interviewing and there are others we have a bigger hard-on for which will likely be available at picks 15 / 16

It's just all talk and games at the moment ... a whole lot of posturing

If only the Saints list manager posted on here like the other clubs seem to do.

Kinda figured we'd be a very good chance of getting Brayshaw but that now looks less and less likely. LDU is the one that would make the most difference to our team, he's just the type of player we lack. Him, Steele, Macrawdaddy with Pou and the younger crew plus a couple of top ten picks and some injury luck would definitely speed up the process and see us contending sooner rather than later. Hopefully with Luke our fortunes will change in regard to landing the proverbial big fish. Really though for this coming season, I just hope we can have more players available for longer. Injuries haven't allowed us to see what we can really do with what we've got, fingers crossed we do a lot better next year and have most of the list available.

Only trouble with LDU is that North is likely to match any offer we make even the $1.5M being bandied around

Maybe that is why we are interested in trading out our F1 basically doing a Geelong we can't trade what we don't have so you are better taking the Free Agency Compo that forcing a trade.

There at least seems to be some credibility to this now though I still think if North start to improve and if we stumble into 2025 we will be out of the picture. Some talk he doesn't want the limelight/burden that being the highest paid player at Collingwood or Carlton would bring might be less heat at the Saints though he is still going to be the highest paid player in the AFL so will carry it's own burden.
