They been talking about Oliver in the media lot. Would we take on Oliver his wacking big $11m contract and Melbs pick 11.

He fixes an issue we have now for a first class mid, covers our salary cap overpayment to a group of gofs problem and we get a frdp as a replacement player for him along the way.

So use Battles payment as subsidising Oliver get pick 5 and Melbs 11 and our 4 creates a really interesting draft hand...and is the type of bold move that only a small irrelevant club like us can make.

Come on let's give it a ride, we missed Cousins let's get Oliver....unless of course those that are really in the know say yeah nah...he is too far gone down the rabbit hole.

im not sure melbourne would give him uo easily though. they seem to not bat very deep in the midfield as much these days

And believe me, if they ARE happy to give him up, that’s a reason we shouldn’t touch him.

Sydney pretty much packed Hanners’ bags for him before we could change our minds.

They can’t hide how ridiculously compromised & rigged this league is any worse.

Actually i don't mind that IF that becomes their first round pick.
If they get to trade their first rounder for next years first rounder and match with junk picks, then it shits me.

Prefer Pou anyway.

Yep in the almost parallel universe where there was full NGA bidding that year, we'd have traded pick 10 out, future first or some player. We'd have matched with later picks, so whatever we did with our original pick and McKenzie.
We wouldn't have Philpou , Keeler, Hotton or Van Es.
Not sure it would have been better long term.

So annoying that we are one of two teams to loose a top ten pick when the rules were changed, only to be changed back

There was never any chance the AFL wouldn't **** it up even more. Dressing it up as an affirmative action measure for indigenous players is as masterful as it is sickening.
That whole rotten joint needs to be cleaned out top to bottom.

Betcha Collard is calling all of the AFL f*****s under his breath. WCE would have matched us for sure @ 29

He’s tall, athletic and really good one on one. I don’t think any of his oppo kicked more than one goal on him in all the champ games.

I don't think he stood out in anyway personally. He's worth taking as a cheap hit but doubt there will be many bidding on him.

He's been so bad this year. I don't know if he was playing while using or he's just not 100% in a good head space but I wouldn't do it. He's a real culture killer type . The Cousins that Richmond got was hardly the elite WC version. $11 million is insane money over a long stretch. If he busts then you've sold ourself into trouble.

Cannot agree more. But the club should look at it do the risk analysis then make the decision with all information known and private on the table.
Then make a decision based on that info. Rather than just rejectboutvof hand.
We need imagination and courage going forward both on and off the field.

Personally we did well with Crouch and Shooey and failed with Hannas and to an extent Freeman.

But we must be bold...we have to do this stuff better than the bigger clubs that have a head start

I disagree on that. Sometimes safe and steady is a much better option than high stakes gambling. All those guys that you mentioned were gambles that didn't work out and each one set us backwards. Imagine if you lost peak Phillipou because you were paying Oliver to sit in rehab for another 5 years.

Those in decision making positions should have to explain this to a mob of agl supporters. They are incredibly clueless
