I don't feel that edge with cricket like football which means you can more genuinely appreciate the opposition's quality.
Bumrahs bowling in that session 4th day was enthralling
Oh yeah definitely with cricket im glued to the box. The instant elation of a big wicket in the last session is as addictive to me as Steven May getting punched in the head by a teammate

Just got home and watching the replay.
That Jaiswal dismissal in slo mo was not out. A ridiculous decision on review. This test was plagued by non lbw calls of which Jaiswal was a beneficiary today but no way could you over turn that. Cost India the series. Shameful umpiring/ not that bit icc processes.
No way that was conclusive and if a flatline snicko and no hot spot it's simply a not out going with umpires calll
Indian fans at the ground every right to be pissed off
The problem isn't that there was a deflection, but - unlike other bouncer-caught behind reviews - there was legitimately nothing else other than glove or bat in the vicinity for the ball to have deflected off. As soon as the third umpire confirmed that there was a deflection, Jaiswal was out.

The footage alone was utterly conclusive because it showed two facts:
  • a clear deflection...
  • ... with nothing else near the ball at the time of the deflection other than bat or glove.

It left the third umpire no choice. It had to be out.

I'd also like to point out that you're arguing past an awful lot of people here. You're arguing that the wrong process was followed; they're arguing it's out.

Marsh should obviously be dropped, but jeez that catch off Head was pivotal.
A good'n but he almost spilt one in the cordon. Seriously guys we can not hold onto a bloke purely on his fielding/catching when he is picked as and all rounder and fails to deliver. Been nice knowing you Bison.

Cricket fans are more appreciative of opposition achievements for the most part. When Reddy got his ton you had to be pretty cold hearted not be absolutely delighted for him, when someone tears apart Hawthorn I don't care if they move like Nijinsky, they can get f***ed.

Rewatched the Jaiswal decision again. Sunny may have been right…

its far more plausible that there was an issue with snicko rather than it was an illusion.

Ball tracker shows clear deviation as well as the camera also showing it.

was out.

wrong.

ball tracking technology showed a clear deviation on the patch, and so did the camera angle, there was also an audible noise.

Thats 3 pieces of evidence.

Just because one piece of evidence Snicko didn't pick it up, doesn't override the other 3.

it was clearly out and it's amazing there's some arguing against it.

Bang on. I could sit and watch Lara, Tendulkar, Kallis, even pre flog Virat etc for hours when they were on. Lara was something else when he was going. Now relate that to footy. If i had to sit down for hours and watch Matt Owies or Orazio Fantasia highlights id probably upend my TV 2 minutes in

"However, despite Marsh’s poor form, any decision to leave him out would not be taken likely given he is the nucleus of the dressing room as the ultimate team man."

Oh FFS!

So like the Crows David Mackay. Always doing the team stuff, great on the training track, has one purple patch that he rides for years, then generally spuds it up on gameday yet plays a ludicrous amount of matches

I don’t think there is 15 minutes of Owies and Fantasia highlights.

Let alone hours!

Listening to the praising of CA and MCC over $10 tickets as if it’s some type of great friendly innovation.
It’s never cost that much, I know it’s still great value but they actually upped the price from gold coin donation.
Let’s stop praising them.

Also Indian fans and adding atmosphere is the equivalent of a vuvuzela at a soccer World Cup.

Negative post yes haha but still a great day. :)

Google false negatives

The tech is not infallible…all it does is show a spike when it detects a sound…if there is a clear spike that could not have been created by anything but the bat then the 3rd umpire can use it it as proof of an edge but the lack of a spike only means it didn’t pick up the contact that the vision CLEARLY shows…he belted it 😂

Think about it this way: if the vision showed a clear gap between bat and ball but snicko showed a spike, you’d want the 3rd umpire to ignore it right? This is the same but in reverse

Sorry, rant was meant to be with you, not at you but I see how it sounded like the latter!

I was in a posting frenzy 😂

It’s a strange debate being had.

It’s like a microcosm of the old workplace argument of ‘did you get the customer/issue sorted?’ ‘Yes’
‘Did you do it using correct protocol?’
‘Does it matter?’

The right decision was made so any debate should end there. What shits me is when this happens both sides jump up and down like they’re the only teams that have ever been on the end of them. Symonds rescued his side from 4-40 when he edged one so hard it nearly went for 6 and went on to smash a century. During the monkeygate test Rahul Dravid was given caught behind to a ball that missed his bat by so far even Marnus wouldn’t have appealed. Some of the leg before decisions India got in 2001 were pitching so far outside leg they wouldn’t have hit a second set of stumps. That’s just from games involving Australia. There’s countless others from all teams; every set of fans thinks ‘they’ are being picked on.

Ineptitude doesn’t discriminate especially since hometown umpiring was removed from the equation (the last example notwithstanding)
