Enhances my screen and watching super slo mo. No. Look at it unbiased and the test.
Look Jaiswal was stone dead lb earlier off starc in another ridiculous decision
But have consistent umpiring. No way you over turn that. Watched again no deflection you guys ate seeing things

He belted it and he told the Australians he hit it before the replay

It’s a strange debate being had.

It’s like a microcosm of the old workplace argument of ‘did you get the customer/issue sorted?’ ‘Yes’
‘Did you do it using correct protocol?’
‘Does it matter?’

The right decision was made so any debate should end there. What shits me is when this happens both sides jump up and down like they’re the only teams that have ever been on the end of them. Symonds rescued his side from 4-40 when he edged one so hard it nearly went for 6 and went on to smash a century. During the monkeygate test Rahul Dravid was given caught behind to a ball that missed his bat by so far even Marnus wouldn’t have appealed. Some of the leg before decisions India got in 2001 were pitching so far outside leg they wouldn’t have hit a second set of stumps. That’s just from games involving Australia. There’s countless others from all teams; every set of fans thinks ‘they’ are being picked on.

Ineptitude doesn’t discriminate especially since hometown umpiring was removed from the equation (the last example notwithstanding)

What’s even dumber is that those who actually know and understand the process, e.g. Simon Taufel has said that correct process was followed and that he could have just given it out without looking at snicko

Bang on. I could sit and watch Lara, Tendulkar, Kallis, even pre flog Virat etc for hours when they were on. Lara was something else when he was going. Now relate that to footy. If i had to sit down for hours and watch Matt Owies or Orazio Fantasia highlights id probably upend my TV 2 minutes in
There is no such thing as preflog virat.

Glad to see that the BCCI are keen to take the heat out of the situation by acknowledging that the right decision was made.

"Shukla took aim on social media with the BCCI vice-president putting the third umpire in the spotlight for snubbing what the technology was offering up.

“Yashaswi jayaswal was clearly not out. Third umpire should have taken note of what technology was suggesting. While over ruling field umpire third umpire should have solid reasons,” he wrote."

My worry for all this garbage is that the icc change the rules, and we end up with more wrong decisions (that will inevitably burn india and they'll take it well)

Indeed, if the umpire believes he has enough visual evidence he’s within his rights anyway as I said earlier in the thread so there doesn’t need to be any debate had but if there was it wouldn’t matter. The right decision was reached

Onto the next test.
Some Indian tabla to relax after a hectic test match.
Love the drums the Indian fans provide.
I stood in the Ponsford for a period of the day yesty getting high listening to the percussive rhythms.

The optical illusion argument is one of the most laughable things I’ve ever heard.

Umpire has seen a deflection (and a change in rotation of the ball as well) from multiple angles.

He then goes to snicko (a technology that even the creators themselves have said is flawed), and it shows nothing. Which conclusion makes more sense:

A) the flawed technology has failed to pick up what he can clearly see. There are clear explanations for this (glove makes less noise, contact occurs far away from the mic)

B) there has been an unexplainable optical illusion and the flawed technology is correct?

As Simon Taufel explained, there was actually no need to even go to snicko. We see it all the time with LBWs where there is a clear edge on replay, they just say not out and continue on.

i heard that ricky ponting used all of his magical powers to cause the ball to deviate that much!

I think Sunny is right, it's likely to be a localized rainbow in the middle of the mcg, where when sunlight passes through water droplets in the atmosphere, causing the light to bend and separate into colors which makes it look like an edge. We just need a scientitian to confirm this phenomenon

Surely to goodness we wouldn't select Sean Abbott over Jhye Richardson if Starc is ruled out
You'd hope not, but has Richardson played much cricket lately? That's probably the only thing weighing on selectors' minds.
We need to replace Marsh too. Zampa a smokey on a turning SCG pitch?

That’s all largely true in terms of fan discussions on forums etc but it ignores the one-sided discourse by commentators, scribes, broadcasters and all other types of content creators/grifters who all financial interests in pandering to the largest audience…and in this case that audience is obviously overwhelmingly Indian

Look at the feeble lack of outcry from Australia’s administration and commentariat over the on-and-off field racial abuse of Australia’s only coloured player for nearly a hundred years…then compare it the hysterical, parochial, hyper-partisan responses from India’s corresponding behemoths over the smallest perceived sleight and can you credibly tell me that they’re comparable?

They’re not…they’re orders of magnitude apart so while your point is correct, it’s also largely redundant in the bigger context 👍
