Forget your players being infringed. Carlton players did not receive free kicks for the same things pies players did and that was the difference today. Collingwood was worse performed.

there were plenty of instances we didn't receive the 50-50 free kicks either. Carlton are a younger team and credit to them, they were hard at it. But what comes with a young team is some indiscipline which leads to frees. It was happening with our team 3 years ago. Over time the carlton players will get more AFL IQ and work out how to get those frees.

For every free carlton didn't get, we can point out a free collingwood didn't get. its a meaningless exercise.

When the game was there, we were 7 ahead, the sequence of possessions was literally:

Dodgy free kick Collingwood - dodgy 50 metre penalty - goal that was touched by not reviewed

Centre bounce - dodgy free kick Collingwood - kick inside 50 - missed holding the man free kick to Carlton - goal

The next goal came from a a missed fre kick for chopping the arms against Plowman.

We were cheated

Agree umpire should know to give each team every second free kick. Damn cheating scum.

Wasn't even every third free kick today, it was every fourth. Seems a tad preferential.

Suggest the Carlton and Richmond folk should have a look at Weitering's decision to (mis) kick to the back pocket when 7 points down with 2 minutes to go instead of going down the middle to Cripps and co. who were screaming for it exactly where they should have been in that situation.

The free kick differential is hard to defend but how anybody could have watched that last quarter and thought Carlton were the better team throughout is beyond me. Collingwood dominated the majority of it.

I don't think anyone's saying they should be equal numbers. Just that 24-8 is obviously not a good look for 'impartial' umpiring.

Outplayed in the last quarter, inside 50 count 26/5 shows that.

But FFS the touched Pies goal that wasnt reviewed and two blatant defensive frees against Marchy and Plowman that resulted in goals and there's you're three goal difference!! Add to that the compounding momentum build from those goals and that's the ball game.

Seriously. 24/8 free kick count, we did not infringe that much or or play that bad not to have drawn a few more ourselves. In particular to two crucial ones referred to above.

Got to find a way to win these games but FFS, a fair go would be nice.

Hate blues and Pies equally but must say this game and the Anzac game made me sick watching an outcome determined by umpires. Where’s the fun in sport if there is no level playing field

Elliott touched the ball but unless you think the umpires deliberately conspire to give the Pies a win (and therefore are an idiot), we didn’t get favoured.

People thinking the free kick count should be even is one of the many problems the game has with umpiring, along with:
- a very messy and grey rule book
- part time umpiring
- fans clinging on old interpretations of the rules and not understanding things like prior opportunity
- commentators clueless and actively questioning every decision

In no other sport with a clear rule book is the count of infringements between teams expected to be even. It’s a complete fallacy.

The game was less about the free kicks paid but more about the ones not paid to Carlton.
