By the time Monday night rolls around Pies will likely have a 3-1-2 record against other top 8 teams plus whatever the result against Port is going into the finals series. Probably should have won against Richmond and Brisbane too. Also won 5 of the last 7 games. The Pies poor form is overplayed. Nothing about the above says Collingwood aren’t finals worthy.

Disagree re 'form', there is nothing to suggest we are in form, if we we're in 'form' we would've beaten bris. Won't count the draw because the form lines of those two teams are very different now.

Overplayed? Maybe, regardless the form is going to have to improve remarkably if we are to contend. No ifs buts or maybes.

Finals worthy? We'll find out Monday.

Can anyone explain the sudden prediction of the Pies beating the top of the ladder team? We're talking about a team that hasn't displayed any warrantable form since the saints win.

I'm confused, someone please give thorough analysis that somehow the Pies are going to have some sort of seismic form shift to do this.

I watched last weeks game Pies v Suns and thought the suns put up a very good fight with very little return from King & Rankine and the Pies were struggling at half time . It was a great performance from De Goey as well as a 'One out of the box' game from Cox who had a very undersized opponent but played his best game since 2018 prelim. But it was the young suns

Port are a very different beast with a strong midfield of Wines,SPS,Boak,Rocky along with a good foward line and good rucks

Port 29 points

Clearly Pies carry more legacy value in the minds of some punters. Noone sees the new bloke coming till it's too late. It's like 2016 and 2017 never happened.

Pies have a history of winning these games when not expected. Port don’t have much to play for while Collingwood will need to win to avoid a trip to Perth week 1.
I have a multi with the pies winning as my last leg, on one hand I’d love to see them head to Perth and on the other hand I like money.

Port have the McLelland trophy and form and who they face in their QF to play for, they're not going into this game treating it as a dead rubber.

You'll lose your money and get your wish.

I can always cash out and have the best of both worlds?
Port win they play cats(most likely) lose and they play us. Who would they rather play?

I think Port wouldn't be concerned if they play either, I'm certain they'll want to continue good form and let the rest take care of itself. Therefore no doubt they'll be aiming to win on Monday.

Of course they’ll be aiming to win but as a relatively inexperienced finals side they’ll have one eye on finals which just might be enough for the pies to take advantage.

Although the eight finals contenders are now locked in, the match-ups of all four Week 1 finals come down to the result of this game.

These are Port's inaugural AFL year jumpers, they are welcome to wear any of them...

Port go futher back than that and should be recognised , They were not a new club but went into the AFL same as most of our teams went from the VFA to the VFL. Only Pies supporters dont accept this

Yep, part of our history, and the inaugural jumpers for our AFL team.
Luckily the AFL recognize our history as a club, not just a team.
And will be the determinates of what we can and can’t wear.

A question for you: What do you think of Collingwood’s first guernsey, black and white diagonal stripes?

Gotta think pies will be into this up to their eyeballs. If they can score enough. Does Hinkley have the nouse to clamp down on DG? Can Pies midfield sans Sidebottom get on top?

At least fate is in our hands. Anyone that thinks Pies prefer going to Cape Town to play Eagles is throwing out a line.

Pies struggled against a 13th placed suns last week and ended up winning due to a big performance by De Goey kicking 4 goals and a once in 2 year performance by Cox. Pies dont have the fire power to kick a score above 70 points and will struggle again against Port.

Port also have a bigger and more physically stronger midfield Wines , SPP , Ebert , Boak , Rockliff , Houston , Hartlett Also a more potent foward line
Only question i have is the Height of the Port Backline. Then we have the talented youngsters in Rozee,Butter,Duursma,Woodcock,Marshall

Hinkley seems to be a coach that wants to win no matter who/where/when mentality so i dont think he will be looking to the next game and will be wanting to finish the season as minor premiers

I'm tipping the Pies, I reckon Port don't have much to play for and the teams are pretty even anyway. Pies need to have a good win to give them a lift going into finals and will feel like they have a bit to prove. Port I think cbf with this game.

I hope I'm wrong though because Id rather play the bears first week
