He was taken high and decided to continue definitely took advantage.

I guess it’s the difference between play on v advantage. Advantage to me is if a teammate continues play, Ginni played on himself: either way we agree

If it wasn't called advantage then it should've been called back because he never went back over the mark (which is the rule)

lol no not how it works. You’ve never seen a player take a mark and keep running, or get a free kick and keep running ? Absolutely clueless.

Most fans have completely no understanding of the rules. It makes it hilarious we have so much umpire bitching & whinging when you have fans thinking Ginnivan should have been brought back - even though play was continuous and he didn’t stop. If he stopped to do a lace up then he would have to go back, but as play is continuous it’s Ginnivan electing to play on and it was a clear HTB.

As in Rugby Union, the umpire should be able to determine if any advantage was actually received.

Except it wasn’t “advantage”. It was Ginnivan playing on. There was no advantage needed for Ginnivan playing on. The advantage rule only applies if a teammate continues the play.

It’s like if he played on and kicked it straight to a GWS defender - it doesn’t come back to him ffs.
