As well as getting the best coach and a president that knows what she's doing we seem to have gotten the train back on the tracks in the last 6 months, that and getting some seriously good young talent from the last two drafts.I think there would be a lot of opposition supporters not wanting us to climb of the bottom.I hope we can prove them wrong.

I really believe we are going to surprise the competition.

Clarkson is no fool, he knows he's come to us with the blood and guts of the rebuild done.

In his year off he went on a learning and training secondment to better himself all paid for by Hawthorn FC. Thanks Hawforn, you unleashed a beast.

Do you reckon he comes in at the back of 2020 knowing he's got two absolute horror years no matter what ahead?

Caro’s top footy issue to resolve in 2023

A resolution on the Hawks’ racism saga

“Well not with huge hope, but I do hope those families who felt so mistreated and in some cases worse at the Hawthorn Football Club get some resolution to the heartbreak they’ve gone through,” Wilson began on her Don’t Shoot The Messengerpodcast.

“I hope that the men that have been implicated in their allegations, I hope they too (receive some closure). I don’t think there will be winners in this but I hope some good comes out of it.

“I hope there’s a resolution because either way, reputations have been badly damaged here and there will be legal action if the allegations aren’t proven.”

Seems a different take than soon after the story broke when she said she couldn’t see clarko coaching again
If caro was a tractor she would definately have a shuttle transmission as they have as many reverse gears as forward.

Having the odd look at the Clarko thread on the main board (yes, that's mistake number 1) basically confirms this. Lot of people blindly claiming that it's a desperation move and that he'll fare about as well as Mick at Carlton. Basically ignoring the fact that a) Mick took over Carlton in his 30th season of coaching and Clarko is going into his 18th. b) Clarko is 3 years younger than Mick when Mick won in 2010 and c) The man had a year-long hiatus in which he strived to improve his coaching even more. On balance, I don't really see how you can reasonably make that claim. Honestly, on most social media apps/sites, we're being discussed a fair bit given we're supposedly irrelevant

I will say I'm pretty dang desperate.

Clarko could be a huge success like Barassi, Parkin, Walls, Malthouse all were at their second coaching stop.

It’s been mentioned earlier, he’s no dill. He’s not taking the job on if he thinks there’s no hope.

Michael, al Clarko has said we’ll be ok, when I questioned “ok” as in being ok if you had a limb removed or ok as in we’ll be mighty fine. It was the latter.

He hasn’t hope as such but likes what he sees.

How long it takes to translate onfield is the question.

Would think another two preseasons, well I’ve been strong on that for a bit.

Good points, to which could be added the context is completely different; Carlton pushed out Ratten on the delusional belief that Malthouse was the last piece of a premiership puzzle, whereas Clarkson is coming in rock bottom but with young talent to mould. Chalk and cheese

Do you reckon there's any evidence that they weren't fit enough last season? (as well as not good enough)

How the actual * do you go a whole season and not out score a single side in a second half?

That’s frightening.

You'd reckon there was a game where junk time would set in, the oppo would ease off to get ready for a bigger fish, and we'd chip off a few cheapies to smooth off some of the rough edges of a tough day.

Nup.

And there was only 4 where it was even competitive.
