I will always have time for Linc, but outside of that there are some real punchable faces getting around the brown snake. Just absolute whingers

Nah, he's just as bad as the others. A perennial sicknote for 7 years that orchestrated his move north to be with his pal Lachie as soon as the club finally got him right.

F*** him!

How good was it when Shark O’Connor took a mark 30m out from goal with no one near him….this while Shark was TAGGING the dual Brownlow Medallist.

Yes. And observe how many of Neale's possessions from then on were in their defensive half. That's a big tactical win.

Impressed with Shark's clean ball handling too.

Our start to 2022 was bog average so I'm not getting that at all

5-4 after 9 rounds. Not one of us expected the perfection that was to come.

This is a completely different group, but at the moment they're proving my pre-season prediction right that last year was an aberration.

Loving MOC this year so far.

I tell you what though, he would be twice the player if he could learn how to free the arms in or break a tackle occasionally.

Actually saw him do it a few times tonight, so I agree. I half suspect that when he's inside D50, drawing the tackle and achieving a stoppage without getting done for HTB is part of Chris Scott's plan for MOC, because in that situation he's almost never going to have someone available for the handball receive.

MOC would be number #1 in the league for both getting tackled to force a stoppage without conceeding HTB and deliberately fumbling the ball over the boundary line without giving away a free kick. He plays perfectly to his limitations. Do you want MOC taking on the tackler or Patrick Dangerfield! Win the stoppage and reset with your better players at the contest. 100% it is tactical.

Just a few observations.
So Hawk has back2back zero goals with minimal impact compared to his last 200 odd games.
A concern? Or just a heavy training load for the old bloke?
We need a great Hawk to show up at the G next Saturday.
Stengle was BOG for me.
Gave us plenty and was like a pig in mud tonight…. Loved it.
Zac G. Has taken yet another step for me.
Chilli 🌶️ got a big break with the Big O going off concussed.
The experience he got tonight will pay itself tenfold.
Tanner Bruhn continues to build.
Jack Bowes. Kudos to him. Well played.
Hawkins is such a champion of the club and of the game, one of my all time favourites, but coming away from this match, that is the one thing that's on my mind too.

A massive concern.

You could see the big guy trying to use his smarts to help out his teammates however he could. Typically such a brilliant wet weather player too. But it's the first time at a game I have ever thought that he didn't belong out there.

It wasn't a case of taking a better key defender out of the game. He simply couldn't influence contests or get to the positions he normally would. O Henry became the prime target.

I want to believe he is playing through an injury that is hampering him big time right now but which will come good, because I'm not ready to accept the alternative.

Agree. I love Toby, but Big O was giving him a bath till then
Agreed, didn't help that apparetly if you're the Big O you can just grab and throw your opposing ruckman out of every ruck contest? I'm sure I've seen those free kicks paid against Stanley regularly?

Sadly the only player that was disappointing was Jack Henry.

He is one of my favourite players however he did not handle the slippery wet conditions. Uncharacteristically he also appeared hesitant and often did not go when it was his turn.

I am sure he will come out and smash them next week and it was just an aberration.

That was ****ed. He played in two Brisbane premiership sides for thier club. A real head scratcher that one.
Was at the ground and I think this was a coincidence. Was it in the last?

They announced there was no kick to kick after the game (of course) and that was the only real booing I noticed.

I remember Scott saying something after our 2023 season like the players had better get prepared to get to work this preseason and in his eyes he really meant it. At that point I knew we were going to surprise a few with our start to 2024.

It was. They announced that they cancelled kick 2 kick because of the condition of the ground at the same time

That game was beautiful to watch. We strangled them, strangled them, strangled them, and then eventually they just broke. Brisbane were physically and emotionally broken at the end of that game, you could see it in their body language and actions in the last 15 minutes. Truly beautiful stuff.

Massive shout out to Max Holmes. His run and carry off half back was huge, most important player on the ground imo. He got us going when we were just holding on early.

Funny because I had the exact opposite view. I thought he controlled our d50 brilliantly like Scarlett in his day. On numerous occasions he was having to beat two forwards and did so easily.
Admittedly my attention was split between the game and answering my son's questions like how many millimetres is it from one end of the field to the other.

What a strange opinion.
