I’d say he’s very close to getting a game

Went to Tassie as emergency then came back and was best player out there against south

Using the ball extremely well and running looks improved
He was good in the preseason trials, half of this board has fully written him off but I reckon he looked like he'd add quite a lot to his game. Crafty & clever handballs out of congestion in particular. I still want a look at him playing his natural role for 3 games or so before I scrap heap him.

Yes this is exactly right. Jackson is very good in traffic. Doesn’t suit his game out on the wing.

Hopefully if the crows give him another game that’s where he’ll play.

After watching the sanfl I think there’s enough growth in Hately to get him in for a crack

Who to squeeze out , I’m going to finally say Murphy

Sloane and Soligo to play that high forward role and continue to play mid minutes too

Ins Hately Parnell Gollant
Outs Murphy Milera one of Tex/Fog depending on who needs rest more

Also Schoenberg to sanfl and Cook sub
I like this, it looks a better balanced team.
Probably rest Tex instead of Fog but you wonder how much longer Fog is able to limp through games with that knee. Bring in Gollant
Parnell for Milera seems a good replacement.
Hately for Shoey
Cook replaces Murphy ( but Cook probably sub) I prefer Cook in the forward lines

The big question is...

Who replaces Milera, Parnell or Worrell?

Personally I'd prefer Worrell, but Parnell had a really strong game yesterday so he'll most probably get the nod.
I'd give Parnell the job, let Worrell build for 1-2 more matches. I'd also like to see Berry dominate one more SANFL match before chucking him straight back in AFL personally but the aim should be to get Worrell & Berry back in playing important roles.

Milera has to go. The bloke offers absolutely nothing. Does not defend. Offers zero drive. Turns the ball over.
We have blokes like Cook, Nankervis and Worrell that offer more. Why he keeps getting picked is utterly beyond me. He was awful in the preseason games, but we couldn't wait to pick him. Sometimes we can't see the forrest for the trees.
I've clung on to the belief that Wayne would rediscover his best at some point, that it was just a matter of time and confidence, but that good will is exhausted now. Agree, we can't carry his average-at-best games any more. Particularly when we have guys like Cook, Parnell and Worrell in the wings who deserve a crack

Parnell had a good game, but some of his kicking is horrendous. Has some just awful turn overs at times.

Jesus, Jackson Hately's start to the SANFL season has been red hot statistically.

Ave: 31.3 touches at 89% DE and 1.67 goals per game as a midfielder.

If he maintained the rage and was eligible for the midseason draft he'd probably go pick 1 with those numbers

When do we start thinking about post Tex? Last night was an eye opener that we aren't going to win a flag with him. Which is sad, but if we are ruthless how do we get there? Maybe not this week but at some point this season we need to give TT a block of games as the second key.

Milera needs to go find out if he wants to be an AFL footballer in the twos.
Murphy gets a reprieve this week but he needs to perform or he's out for McHenry.
Keays struggled last night because his teammates didn't trust him with his disposal to give it to him. If he's not playing midfield and not getting the ball forward.. what's he providing?

Out: Milera, Keays, Schoenberg (sub)
In: Parnell, Berry, McHenry (sub)
TT plays so much better up forward when we only have the 2 key forwards. He just seems to get lost when he is the 3rd key forward. I would like us to give him and Fog a few games together this year without Tex in there. TT and Fog are going to be our forward pairing for the next 10 years, we need to start prioritizing them as our main key forwards.

I don't think Tex is ready to hang up the boots just yet, but the end will come quickly. If his form is deteriorating as the year goes on, then I think the tough conversations need to happen at the seasons end. As much as he is providing great leadership out there for the young forwards, he is also potentially stalling the development of TT.

This week would be a good opportunity for a rest, and let TT and Fog play as our 2 main key forwards, with Gollant to come in as the 3rd option.

The Geelong away game on a 6 day break after round 7 seems like the logical point to rest Tex. Give him 13 days at home to get the body fresh and firing for the St Kilda home game in round 9.

But Geelong are averaging over 130 ppg over the last month. So I don't think they will.

Milera simply has to come out. He's been very disappointing but seems to have a gold pass.

Now would be a good game to rest Tex IMO. Going smaller up forward (if they don't replace him with Gollant) would hopefully avoid the long bomb forward which Geelong eat up.

I can't see us winning this, but I'm interested to see how we respond from yesterday's disappointing loss. Let's hope we don't drop our bundle.

The over top carry on and indignation from the vic media over the umpiring in this weeks game against Collingwood will ensure a huge reaming by the umpires at GMBH stadium this week although to be fair this happens each year with this crap stain of a stadium

Deserves to be rewarded, Never looked bad in the middle, It's when we moved him to the wing it all went crap

Seriously? You're suggesting to drop Fogarty after literally one poor performance? That wasn't entirely his fault ...
The only reason you drop him is if the knee needs a rest.

His ball use has been the thing that’s stood out for me in games I’ve seen

Replicating that at afl level pressure is the challenge

Time to give him a shot

Just imagine if they had lost. Would have been 10x.

With Hawkins and Cameron firing I think we need to bring in the extra height in defense.
Butts is a trier but his mobility is definitely affected by that calf injury.
Keep him in because we just don't have much height in defense but see how he's playing.
If he's run around or being beaten then the extra Worrell/Keane/Nankervis in the rotation could be the option for Geelong.
Whoever they chose to go with, someone needs to fill the 'hole' at their stadium. The amount of times they hit a lead up target is criminal.

I've said it before but at some stage during the year we will play two legitimate rucks. We need to try and have a look at this set up.
I don't care if ROB loves being a workhorse, we need to get alternative looks in the center and around the ground, (it's a concern).
They can rotate off the bench, if Burgess has our players as fit as his reputation suggests then it shouldn't be a problem going in with a slightly taller line up.
