I don’t subscribe to the theory that there is no pressure on us. There is a huge amount of pressure, but maybe a tad more on Brisbane as they are the favourites.

But both sides since that 2004 GF have experienced repeated failures in finals and have plenty of pressure on them to finally breakthrough to the big dance and ultimately another premiership after 19 and 20 years in the wilderness.

It’s a QF so it’s not do or die, but a win definitely makes the road to the GF easier. So you can’t deny the pressure is not there just because the venue the game is played at has the lions as favourites.

As a supporter base, we are one of the most passionate but we are so starved of success that we are incredibly frustrated and impatient. A lot say they don’t care, maybe it’s part of their coping mechanism in case things turn to s**t again. But deep down we are all hungry for this, I’ve got expectations so I’m hoping the players do to and are embracing the pressure and are ready to go full pelt next Saturday night.

Interestingly, the odds are very similar to that historic day in September 2004. We are the $2.75 underdogs or thereabouts, and just like that day I like to think we are a better chance than the betting markets seem to think. We were the better team in 2004 and I think we are the better team this year too, the venue makes it harder but I still think we can get this done.

Why can’t this year be our time. Let’s *ing do this.

Brisbane have gone out in straight sets twice since 2019 and their finals record during that time at the Gabba is 2 wins and 4 losses. Their team is older. They're under much more pressure than us, not a tad more.

Its finals so pressure is pressure.

Everyone is under pressure. That's the great thing about finals.

And pressure is not as important as overall skill and endeavour.

I think we are a bit more better than Brisbane and have more matchwinners but we also have some guys who could go to puddles of water as well.
They have the home ground advantage.

With our elite midfield, I don't think we will be blown off the park like Bulldogs PF 2021.

I haven't seen a lot of Brisbane games this year. I only usually watch Power games but if they play tight and hard, accountable footy, we might be in for it. I think they play more clearance type of game so that falls into our hands nicely.

I am a touch worried about their forward line overall.

This is the time for Rozee, Butters, Horne-Francis and Houston to stand up and for the other younger guys like Duursma, Bergman, Jones, Drew, Powell-Pepper, Farrell to follow their lead.

I just had a look at the predictive team to play and it is a touch unsettled with Lycett and McKenzie coming in and Dixon not available.

Interested to see what Rioli and Powell-Pepper will do in the forward line and whether the Sex Panther will dominate a bit or a lot.

I wish Williams got a game as well.

HUGE NEWS FROM BELL PARK

We have a big milestone game next weekend up at the Gabba.

Ken Hinkley will equal the mediocre coach Terry Wallace with 247 games coached without a Grand Final appearance.

Terry Wallace's coached games are over two stints, first with 148 games for the Bulldogs and then 99 games with the Richmond Tigers.

Ken has the distinction of coaching all of his games at the Port Adelaide, I mean, the Ken Hinkley Football Club.

Ken will hold that record solely for himself when the next final is played but if he wins, he will immediately go off that that list as the team would have made the Grand Final.

A big shout out to Kochie for allowing the slowest of car crashes to happen on his watch.

Lycett could go one of two ways if he plays in this game.

Absolute fertiliser after hearing his coach is having meetings with his probable replacement as well as being snarky on a crap one year contract offer.

Or I'll show you campaigners and play like a man possessed.

What will it be?

Haven’t won a premiership in 19 years, haven’t played in a GF in 16 years. 1st in 2020, 2nd in 21 for no gf appearance.

This is our 3rd crack in 4 years as a top 3 team.

We are under plenty of pressure.

It would also be completely unnatural to not feel that pressure too as a top 4 team but It’s how you deal with that, which is key. I think when you finish 5 - 8 there might be a sense of just being happy to be there but when you are top 4, the carrot is there dangling right in front of you and that’s exciting but it would be hard not to be feeling a bit of pressure that goes with it.

Embrace it, bring it on.

I Agree embrace it and bring it on, can’t wait.

For us there will be at least 7 players not playing who played in 2021 PF debacle.

Most importantly the baton has been passed. Captain who only got a game through injury and ex-captains playing out of position and one as a sub. Senior coach now on the bench indicating a shift in game day processes.

Some might call all this subtle but it feels significant to me.

This will be the first final when this young group of leaders take absolute ownership over our destiny.

Brisbane? 2-4 at Gabba since 2019 and absolutely in their prime. IMO they’re under much more pressure. THIS is their time.

Was just about BOG against the best in the competition (Max).
I doubt he will ever play more than about 4 games in a row before he’s fkd.
Now is the perfect time for us to get the best out of him.

They should of got a home prelim or some crap like that...
That's not how it worked back then. If there were two non-Victorian teams being the "home" team in a Preliminary Final the highest finishing one got to host at home and the other had to play at the MCG due to the AFL's agreement with the MCG. So for all their whinging about having to play their Preliminary Final at the MCG if they had finished above Port they could have played it at the Gabba but they didn't.

If ya good enough... U will win no matter where...

Yep, we're under the potential pressure of an angry fanbase if we lose but then we're only a week away from either winning again or going on holiday and either way we'll be able to totally ignore the white noise.

And we'll get to remain best friends 4 life no matter what and that's ultimately all that matters
