I feel as though this is the first time in Simpson's tenure that there will be genuine pressure coming on his job. I'm worried this is going to make him even more 'conservative' with team selections. As much as I hate to believe that the extra possibly 1 or 2 wins from playing the usuals in their usual roles actually matters to him keeping his job - I think it does to this eagles board.

Will ****ing melt hard if they drop Duggan or Sheed. While the plodding seniors were barely keeping up with the tempo of the game, atleast, they were showing fight till the end even if they made some mistakes. Get 15 games into the likes of Nelson, Sheed and Duggan this season so they have a chance to make a step up and become core players next season when our boy Naita comes back.

Redden (doesn't win clearances and halts any fast ball movement)
Stenglein and Staker used to do this circa 2004 and it drove me batshit insane. And now it's happening again. This club under successive coaches is shit scared of playing on after a mark.

Stenglein and Staker were more along the lines of Masten from memory, always goes behind the mark to take their kicks when they could be moving it on quickly. Particularly in Masten's case where he actually has good footskills (not yesterday's 1st quarter though and also not under any sort of pressure) so he should be able to turn and hit up a leading target.

Redden's issue (and hutch for that matter) isn't exactly that he won't play on straight away, it's more that he will chip it sideways or wait too long for a runner passing by to give it off to because he plays within his limited skill set. Not a lot can be done about it, except getting them out of the team. When you include Priddis as well we have too many players halting our transition play.

Transitioning the ball from end to end should actually be one of ours strengths when you consider Hurn, Gov, Nelson, Shep, Yeo and Smitch out of the back half. We don't do it very often though.

Stenglein was basically a consistent Redden. Same style.

Is that honestly worse than Redden's 2 CP at half time?
I would GLADLY accept a 5 disposal game from Venables > 15 touch game from Redden.

We want to win a Premiership, not a derby.
i would'nt accept anyone having a 5 disposal game. not to mention re-injuring a long turm future player who's come off a major foot injury and only been running for a few months. been managed playing limited time in WAFL reserves and now Legue so i wouldn't to throw him into AFL action. Not a good idea. I agree playing some young talent but lets try partington mutimer karpany even snadden first. Lets be patient with Venables

True, the game of style of game was more suited to the times back then. Helps when you have Kerr, Jude and Cousins beside you as well of course. He also wasn't bad overhead and could play a bit down back so had more strings to his bow than Redden.

Mutimer needs to come in. Stick him in the middle and let him to put his head over the ball. Not that he needs much encouragement.
Priddis out Mutimer In

However It'll be Giles & Sheed for Cripps and Mitchell :drunk:

On form tho not mentioned in WAFL last week; Francis Watson is the first bloke id pick for a crack

Adam, I think that is great that you took the time to look up Francis' name since yesterdays presser. I hate to be the one to tell you though...

I also think Gaff could miss.

OUT: Gaff, Cripps, Schofield, Redden
IN: Mitchell, Mutimer, Giles, Karpany

Masten survives.

What I actually expect:

OUT: Gaff, Cripps, Schofield
IN: Jetta, Hutchings, Mitchell

Surely Giles has to come in. The experiment of playing Vardy as the main ruckman was hardly a raging success. Sandilands will dominate but he has to have some opposition.
