List of No.1 draft picks to become premiership players :

Drew Banfield (1992)
Des Headland (1998)
Luke Hodge (2001)
Tom Boyd (2013)

So four in total and the most recent of those won a flag after being traded

I’ll take the win if it comes along with any others and be happy about it

Finishing last is finishing last and nothing to be happy about. Getting the No.1 pick does no more than wash some of the bad taste away

I don't care what needs to be done, forget your pride for a week. The method and synergy for this week is to lose, that's it, like we have been doing all season. So i do not want to see guys whove been playing ass the whole season decide for this week to be the game they show up.

Read the room and rest all senior players you can. If we win this game i will be beyond disgusted.
I come in peace.
I have a fear/expectation that we will play you into form by doing some of the lazy things from the game vs Fremantle/ first half against Melbourne and then you will be off on a roll. We might catch up late but still lose.

You obviously haven't been watching us closely enough this year.

Will take a win even if it's against a side openly tanking.

We had pick 2 last year and traded it away, maybe we'll do it again? I don't care I just want to ******* win.

Shove yo tanking up yo anoos.

We have no chance of beating them anyway.. They are still one of the best clearance sides in the league, their backline although can have brain fades and disposal issues would comfortably beat our forward and Mitch Lewis will probably beat barass.

If that's how it plays out then so be it, but to see supporters openly advocating for us to lose makes me sick.

Is he being lazy or too Rowell conscious?

Not denying he should have gone at the guy who was about to collect the footy to put pressure on him but looks like he’s incorrectly focused on Rowell. Poor decision making
Looks worse in real time than a chuggy gif. Theres simply no reason for the initial slow down sheed does here which forces Kelly to peel off Rowell to impact the carrier.

If sheed goes full speed at that contest instead of slowing down making Kelly he’s pressuring the ball carrier before kelly can get there, kelly has to come from 2m behind rowell and past him to put any pressure on.

If rowell puts a decent shepherd on kelly can’t do anything and the ball carrier goes unpressured.

Yes I think it’s bruise free football rather than Rowell focus. If this was a player who routinely was hard at it as opposed to one with a history of one armed tackles and watching his opponents run away while flat footed I’d be more inclined to give the benefit of the doubt

Just my opinion.

true, though you did beat GWS (not sure of the injury count at that time)

Our injury problems didn’t start until the derby. Prior to that our availability was relatively normal - only Naitanui and Yeo were missing from our best 22 against GWS

The real question to ask is

What is Will Schofield doing this week?

A little bit convenient lol.
The first covid cases since last year if a player gets it.
What are current rules around covid this season though?
There's no isolation rules anymore in place for the general population afaik?
Are they still allowed to play if they aren't sick?

I think so, but they will just claim they're too sick to perform.

Nope.

We have to tank.

Winning is not a choice we have
I understand the argument for going the full tank. But I think becoming a good footy team is about far more than just accumulating the best talent. There's been plenty of "awesome on paper" sides which have demonstrated this over the years.

I'd rather build a ruthless winning culture back and drop down the draft order a couple of places personally. We are so far away from that at the moment. But who's to say the first step in the right direction isn't the next game. Picking and choosing the time to have a real crack at winning is unacceptable IMO.

We haven't got enough players as it is to be worrying about tanking.

Due to the lack of available personal this is what our tank currently looks like
