Having another go, assuming Jones gets up and SPS doesn’t.

Out: Darling (curse)
In: Edwards (into 22), Chesser (sub)

Backs: Barrass, Hedwards, Rotham, Witherden, Jones, Hough, Foley
Mids: Kelly, Sheed, Duggan, Ginbey, Clark, Hunt
Rucks: Williams, Jamieson
Forwards: Allen, Waterman, Petruccelle, West, Gaff, Ledwards, XON
Sub: Chesser
Emergencies: Long (if fit enough to at least be sub), Trew, Barnett

Slightly smaller lineup than last week with Darling out and Waterman shouldering more responsibility in the forward line.

Jones back to the backline. Duggan to full-time mid. XON/Edwards/Gaff/Petch to give Ginbey a rest if he’s not up to a full game as a mid.

Possibly Jamieson to play first ruck and Williams to spend more time forward, it gives him a bit of a break after the workload he’s shouldered this season.

Long and Trew to get a free flight and be on standby, ideally Long would get some WAFL minutes but there’s no game on.

And they said the art of tanking was dying

What is the argument or evidence that Hawthorn are tanking? What am i missing?

They traded 3 blokes out (Gunston, Mitchell and O'Meara) all of whom are very close to if not over 30 years old, on the downhill slide and none of whom are setting the world on fire at their new clubs. And he traded two blokes in (Amon and Meek). There is no exaggerated injury list. Nobody is being rested in suspicious circumstances. Players are not being played out of position. I don't see any allegations that they are putting their best players on the bench in crucial periods during close games.

The evidence that they are tanking at this stage looks very thin to me.

That said, come Round 15 onwards i will be watching for those signs. I don't think any teams would tank for an entire season now the priority pick is gone. But i could see why from Round 15 onwards and if you are in the bottom 4 a club hierarchy might start to see more benefit in losing games than winning them.
Correct weight, if it was not for 3 atrocities committed by the umpires in the 4th quarter when we played the Crows and a couple of inches against the GWS we would be sitting on 3 wins and that ******* Barrett would not be stirring up the tanking crap.
If we play like we did against the Crows we will beat your injury ravaged team by 12 goals so no need to worry, only North can steal the number 1 pick away.

"Former top-10 pick Josh Ward will miss a second game due to the bone overload issue the club detected last week after the midfielder reported some foot soreness at training" - Gee loading the bone is a clear tanking option.

Fellow cellar-dwellers:

Not since the days of 2011/12 GC and GWS matches, have I been so certain of a comfortable Hawthorn victory. Were it any other venue, I could entertain the thought of a loss.

As much as it joys and pains me, we are improving as a team, and we not going to be your competition for Harley Reid. Keep a watchful eye on the rabble at Arden st. who play the bottom 4 game better than any, and who will cry for a priority pick as well.

I’ve had the loaded bone many times, the result has always been messy, nasty stuff right there!

Bone overload seems like an issue a teenage boy would go through tbh

Kelly taking one for the team. Tanks Kelly!!!

In all seriousness, dealing with something large personally. Take the time off amd get your head right.

Sounds like Chesser played a bit behind the ball in the WAFL which is something I'd been hoping for. That may have just been to adjust to the fact the Beagles are getting slaughtered but I hope it's something they'd consider for him at AFL level too. Let him get his hands on the footy and build confidence while adjusting to the speed of the game. I'm sure we'd all prefer he becomes a genuine wing/mid over a HBF but there's not alot of benefit to him getting lost on the wing at this stage for 5-7 touches.

I'd like to see him play back and perhaps Jones and Hough push forward for balance. Why we haven't given Hough any forward time when he was drafted as a fwd/mid is a bit beyond me - while we prefer sticking a mid like Ledwards on a HFF.

Chesser to a sweeping role, Edwards to a wing/on ball rotation, Hough and Jones splitting time forward and back. Jones to return to the backline when we've got some actual forwards to select.

Give him the Sheezel/Daicos role to get his hands on it

How convenient that the top 10 draft pick that absolutely torched us last year on the way to a Rising Star nom is out with bone soreness in the lead up to the Harley Reid Cup.

Can’t wait for the news to drop on Thursday morning that half the Hawks team has caught Covid from Mitchell and they’ll be fielding a Box Hill side.

Hawthorn are desperate for Harley Reid you can just feel it in the air ...

I really feel like whoever loses this week has to also lose every other week this season to avoid finishing above North, and I just don't see that happening for either team.

Let's upset Hawthorn this week and get it over with. We're still headed for the bottom 3 and that'll be good enough for our rebuild.
