Chill out guys, at some point these guys have to play. Yes it’s had a player gets dropped after playing well but history says he won’t back it up.
It won’t be the difference between us winning and losing.
Dropping the kids from the richmond win last year worked. We really showed them.

Absolutely cooked selections.

What incentive is there for West, Hough and especially XON to produce spirited performances if they get the ass straight away.

They should have kept their spots with the others made to earn their spots through the WAFL.

Why is Cripps an automatic selection after fumbling his way through 75% of the last 3 seasons?

West apparently 'Couldn't be considered', so there's something else in play there.

Cripps comes in for Waterman, a player the majority of posters have been complaining about.

XON is replaced by Shuey/Kelly/Yeo. Do you think he could out-perform any of those 3?

Some of the changes I get. The rest make no sense.

Rotham over Hough after doing nothing? Oneil dropped after 24 disposals. Cripps in after no match fitness in months. Get in the bin match committee

Cripps would be as fit as a fiddle as he as been able to get the miles in the legs. I have no problem with Cripps in. He was able to maintain his footy touch, just not the strong physical stuff. He'll be good to go. He is one of our main up and back guys.

Bizarre stuff. Except for Cripps, we aren’t bringing back the maligned ones (Sheed, Gaff, Petch). TK and Yeo are our genuine gold standard mids. Shuey is our captain. All are walk up starts. And guarantee that the same would happen at 17 other clubs.

We have Williams in the ruck, a big opportunity. Harry Edwards to hold down a key position spot. Naish and JJ etc. I would have liked O’Neill to slot in somewhere, but my god, he was derided and completely written off before a ball was bounced to start the season. Now he is the martyr 🤦‍♂️ And the way things are going, there probably will be a late change. But anyway melt on.

I just don't get that after all these years of Simmo's credits... people STILL do not see the merit of rewarding players with selection on MERIT, not reputation.

No way in hell XON should be dropped after a performance like that - 24 disposals, 5 clearances, 5 score involvements.

It was the best game of his career by a long way. He played a part in one of the clubs greatest backs against the wall wins. What does this do to his confidence to lose his place after that? What does this do to his motivation? I don't like it personally, and i'm not even an XON fan, but rewarding form is rewarding form. It sets a standard. It sets the culture. It encourages players to give 100% no matter what as their position will always be merit based.

On the flip side, what does this do to Shuey, Kelly, and Yeo, knowing they will always be preferred over a bloke who just put in a performance like that.

This year was supposed to be different.
Shuey and Kelly have only missed 2 games. It's not like they've been on long lay-off's (obviously Shuey had pre season issues, but he was decent in r2).

Yeo has come back through the WAFL.

Xon has pretty much shown he needs to play inside mid, or inside mid at a lower level. With the 3 ins, plus Redden, JJ, Rioli - he's just not going to get that time on-ball. He's done his part and is next in line as we need an inside mid, but that isn't this week.

Cripps, I get some of the frustration, but hopefully he brings high pressure (the one thing that stood out from his 1st up stats posted earlier was that in 3 out of 4 games referenced he had 5+ tackles). We can never have too much forward pressure.

Hough out, I am assuming he may be a but sore, or they are worried he might be over doing it in his 1st year. It's probably the most disappointing one regarding selection but least likely to influence the result.

The changes make sense when looked at it like this. Would have probably liked Hough in over Rotham but the rest speak for themselves. We have to get games into this midfield trio so they can build chemistry

Come on. Yeo and Kelly and Captain Shuey. All must stay in the WAFL until further notice. We can’t have our best players at AFL level 🤷‍♂️🤣

It's all about continuity and if we can get some going from here out.

This is pretty much our best on-ball midfield for a while, so we need to get them playing games together.

Xon/West and co will be provide the depth for injuries and covid during the year.

Also how good to have Rioli, Ryan and Cripps in the same team again. Plus JJ.

I would also have preferred Hough in over Rotham but he's a very skinny first year player, let's not ruin him too early as he has years ahead.

When I say I'm disappointed in the changes, it's a small disappointment, not something that I have thought about at length. Just an initial reaction.

I have watched the weekends game again and XON's game was mostly impressive for his ability to work under heavy duress against the odds. It wasn't a standout game where all his skills were on display and he was vying for BOG honours. It was more just good to see some fight, desire etc.

The one who stood out as a potential game changer was Naish. Had he been dropped I'd have been properly disappointed.

XON will be back at some point I am sure, I just hope we win this weeks game.

I love the faith in the youth. Buy Xon hasn't been smashing it to the point that he keeps Kelly, Shuey or Yeo out. Hopefully Clark and Strnadica smash it in the WAFL and keep the pressure alive. Also hope West isn't injured again as they inferred in the selection blurb. I think the plan is to get the senior mids to play together for a while for a change with the new gameplan. The youths time will come.
