The Hawks had their measure at stages, just didn't capitalise, lots of forward entries
and missed set shots.
If those goals were got, a confidence boost for Hawks and would've got into the heads
of the Demonics!
But they stopped or slowed their run n' gun style, until the dam wall eventually broke.
But it showed that it can be done..and Eagles are a better side than Hawks obviously.
Chaos ball? Cute...

Melbourne played the hunt, fast run and spread style in the Finals quite successfully. Probably, we will slow their tempo by controlling the ball. Avoiding turnover is the key to success too.

Matching and handling their pressure is key. If we expect to play the game on our terms we will lose. Need to lock the ball in our forward line - once it’s turned over at half back it’s almost a guaranteed goal to Melbourne on the rebound, as they swarm forward.

They’re basically Richmond/Bulldogs mk2

Not sure he will go with him when the ball hits the deck though.
I reckon he can in all honesty, he is pretty agile.

We can’t let them get out the back like they did when over here last time, that killled us.

I reckon the Match Committee could be considering another finals surprise selection , Melbourne are very quick in the forward line they get out the back in their forward line which happened last time we played Melbourne at Optus in Rd 22 . Francis Watson in consideration as Jackson Nelson has a future but not quite yet .
Still reckon they will go with Schofield but there is a chance......

Back him I suppose but geez we will be a tall team compared to the Dees, have to take control of the air with the talls and not let Gawn to get on top in the air, or we will be left wanting at ground level.

not let Gawn to get on top in the air,
This will always be a concern. Lads have to read the ball right, otherwise our backs will yet again be doing all the heavy lifting.

Now we are meeting Melbourne in the Prelim..
Again I am not too concern on who is in and who is out. The more important bits are:
1. We must increase our work rate for all 4 quarters
2. Neither Geelong nor Hawthron applied enough forward pressure to Melbourne and ended up losing badly as Melbourne could run too freely. We must learn from their mistakes.
Melb is a very quick team so they love it when the oppo kick the ball backwards near the front 50m arc. This allow them to get back quickly and clog the forward line. This was Hawthorn major mistake last nights game.
Melbourne are a good at contested/ stoppage and a high scoring team.
WCE has to jump start them early not to repeat of round 22 giving them a head start for half game.
But then again WCE did well without any KPF that game.
Go Eagles

Here hoping WCE can smash Demons next week seems media over East coast will push them along!!
Vics are sooo worried that two interstate teams will participate like in the Grand Finals like 2005 & 2006. Must of been such an anticlimax feeling for them for the Grand Final parade and the Grand Final day at the MCG without any Vic teams the barrack for....

I would love it if West Coast and the other Sydney were to make it back to back grand finals in 2018-19 with a split of 1 cup each.
Screw the Melbourne parochial pricks.

Up the bloody coaster!

Maaate, grab the kitchen wipes and clean up your mess...it's embarrassing!?

Let the Vic media go ballistic over the Desmonds....Eagles can do this!
Agree
WCE as underdogs is better than being favorites with the Melb media..
