Dixon moved and played well against McCartin on the bigger AO in round 21, with Francis taking Ratugolea and Blakey on Georgiades. They didn’t have Melican or Rampe in defence, and no Papley, Amartey, McInnerny or Campbell either. Parker was also sub and came on and gave them a little bit when the game was over. Mills obviously played. Drew started on Warner.

Obviously this will be completely different for lots of reasons. They’re at home, back in form, with a third of their best team back in and will in no way be blindsided by our tactics. We’re seemingly more banged up, with at least two guns down (Farrell and Houston).

Honestly don’t know what to do about playing Dixon, Lord, Visentini or Burton to partner Georgiades and Ratugolea forward. The role we need filled is someone who can contest between the arcs, provide an outlet marking target and drag a tall opponent with him away from Rioli and MG. Preferably someone who can cover ground reasonably well. Such a shame that between Marshall, Dixon and Lord, none is ripe for such an occasion.
Ive been thinking the past week or two of Ratagolea in the centre. Would create a ‘brick wall’ and contest coming out of trouble both ways. Probably best then to bring Burton in?

Allows some rotation flexibility and mids to rest up forward.

We are in the prelim guys, every other team in the comp would kill to be in our position. We have a great record against Sydney, we have almost the exact same team available as the last game when we beat them by 112, minus Houston and Farrell*

1 v 2, we earned this chance and as much as you hate Ken, you have to get behind your team this week and hope for the best. If. You hope we lose then you are supporting the wrong team you ****ing loser so **** off, we don't want you.

COME ON PORT **** THEM UPPPPP

I’d also point out that it is very questionable that we’d be better off playing a home prelim against Brisbane (with more expectation on us) rather than a backs against the wall, underdog final away from home.

It's not questionable at all, it's absolute fact that we're more likely to win a PF against Sydney in Sydney than Brisbane in Adelaide. Doesn't mean we will win of course but it's much more likely.

The cupboard is getting bare.

Those in grey are out for the year in the Injured column, and in light blue in Not selected column are those players who have played since Richmond game in Rd 19, that started 6 in a row wins before we hit Geelong.

Williams played v Richmond - 3 games for the year, Lord v Richmond - 6 games for the year and it was 6 in a row then dropped, Visenrini v Freo Rd 24 - 3 games for the year other two were in Rds 9+10, and McEntee played against Geelong in QF - 14 games for the year, played against Freo and before that was Rd 15.

I'd be prepared to risk 1 of Burton or Farrell, prefer Farrell, but not both.

Dixon will come in for Marshall if the reason he failed fitness test was because of flu/respiratory issue. I'm tempted to only play 2 KPFs at the SCG, but Ken will play Dixon as he can also ruck, but if he doesn't come up, then Lord has to play if Ken sticks with his 3 talls structure.

If everyone was fit and not suspended then Friday night would have included;
Houston, Farrell, SPP, Dixon and probably Finlayson.

Would have been a different as the QF against Geelong with those players in.

Selection:

Marshall already ruled out with concussion.
F.Evans the most vulnerable of those that played. Sinn probably next, though I thought he played a very good game Friday.

Dixon (virus), Burton (tightness) both available.
Farrell rumoured to be racing to be fit in time.

Multiple considerations: do you leave Burgoyne at half back? If so, who takes his wing? Do you replace Marshall with a tall or small or something in between like Burton? If tall, Dixon, Lord, Visentini or Soldo? Do you leave Ratugolea forward or back? Does Ratugolea play second ruck or does Dixon (or Visentini/Soldo) come in to do that? What level of risk do you take with Farrell? Do you just pit our midfield against theirs or are there special jobs for someone on Henry, Warner, Gulden. Who takes Papley?

Likely changes are: In- Dixon, Burton, Farrell (Burton or Narkle sub). Out- F.Evans, Marshall, Lorenz

Thank you and Good luck.

Watching the replay last night, I underestimated Sinns game. His first half particularly was very good. He keeps that up and we're a big chance. Desperately need the Mead, Sinn, etc juniors to perform to be any shot.

Ken should be hanging a print out of the betting odds for your game on the board to spur the side like he did with ginnivans comment. I can't believe the swans are heavy favourites it's a lack of respect and belief in you guys from all outside the club. I bet if the Dawks won and were playing the betting would be nearly 50-50.

What is even wrong with Dixon (physically, but also in general)?

Supposedly was in the rooms after the game taking photos with fans and family.

Isn't he carrying some infectious virus? Shouldn't he be isolating from the team?

Given Charlie’s very poor showing against the Cats, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was playing under duress then, & was at the tail end of the virus by the time the Hawks game came around.

If it was the genuine flu, he still might struggle to run out a full game against the Swans.

Whooping Cough was the 1st story.

That may or may not clear up. It can be weeks.

It would explain his last effort. You are going nowhere if that lingers.

Whooping cough is a highly contagious virus. If he has it I'm not sure why he would be at the game talking to players and fans.

Carr said he was taking antibiotics which suggests it is probably not a virus, or it could just be terrible medical advice

As others have said, he should have been quarantined. Makes no sense to expose everyone else to his infection in the midst of a finals campaign. Negligence.

If Dixon is not ill he will play, else Dante gets the gig.
The only other change I can see is predicated on Burton being fit
