I forgot Ebert, Westy, Marshall arent in the side.

Some tough decisions looking if we can keep playing as is. Ladhams has thrown a real spanner in the works for Ken - why has it taken this long is what I’m wondering.

Don't worry about the win, we have gone 6+4+5 day rests and the next game is 6 days away. Maybe make another one or two changes.

Manage the players don't grind them into the dirt. There is an 8 day rest between Geelong and Hawks game.

Motlop, Westy, Ebert could not play again and strangely we’d be fine I think.

Hopefully Ken doesn’t drop Ladhams at some point to give Westhoff a look back in.

Last nights game.

This chart is missing at least one important stat imo - spoils, as it undervalues both Clurey and McKenzie.

Farrell, Sutcliffe and Duursma are most at risk of losing their spot.

Farrell is a beautiful kick but fades out of the game too often, Sutcliffe has good skills and is solid but when was the last time he did something to switch momentum, and Duursma seems to have a case of the second year staggers.

I would be getting Burton, Rozee and Ebert back into the side ahead of those three over the next few weeks.

We have had 30 players play for us so far this year.

Of those, the 8 that are not top 22 at this stage imo are:
Mayes, Duursma, Westhoff, Motlop, Marshall, Farrell, Sutcliffe and Bonner

The one that is most unlucky is Mayes.
If any of the others want to play finals, then I think they need to get over whatever niggles they have and prove they want it more than someone else who deserves it. How? Just ask Butters.

If there is one measurement that most makes sense to me its this one:

So this is my 22 for the finals:

McKenzie, Clurey, DBJ
Hartlett, Jonas, Burton
Houston, Wines, Amon
Butters, Georgiades, SPP
Gray, Dixon, Ladhams

Lycett, Boak, Rozee
Ebert, Rockliff, Woodcock, Leinert

EMG: Mayes, Duursma, Marshall, Westhoff

When everyone is available I reckon our best would have to be
FB: T.McKenzie | T.Clurey | H.Hartlett
HB: D.Byrne-Jones | T.Jonas | R.Burton
C: K.Amon | O.Wines | X.Duursma
R: S.Lycett | T.Boak | D.Houston
HF: C.Rozee | T.Marshall | Z.Butters
FF: R.Gray | C.Dixon | P.Ladhams
I: S.Powell-Pepper | T.Rockliff | B.Ebert | B.Woodcock
But those last 2 spots could go to any of Farrell, Motlop or Mayes as well.
Georgiades is stiff but would probably miss out once Marshall is back.

Playing the 2 rucks or the 3 tall forward set up is going to be an interesting conundrum. Hinges on Ladhams’ ability operate as a resting forward.

Duursma is absolutely in our best 22 moving forward, we just need to play him into some form.

The key question is going to be which 2 of Marshall, Georgiades and Ladhams play alongside Dixon. At least you know we'll at least play 2, good problem to have.

I think Mayes comes in for Lienert in what is probably Burton's spot long term, but again, competition for spots is massive.

I don't see a way back in for Westhoff barring injury or a massive dip in form from one of our tall forwards.

Could Marshall continue to play the Westhoff role and Keep Georgie and Ladhams up forward?

The only time when Westhoff has been in the same side as Marshall, Georgiades and Dixon this year has been when Hoff has replaced McKenzie in the back line against St. Kilda.

Hoff has been the 3rd tall this season essentially playing the role Ladhams did last night. If you keep Dixon, Georgiades and Ladhams in the forward line, if you wanted to add Marshall to that group you'd be going awfully tall. I'm not convinced a 4 tall attack would work without compromising a lot of defensive forward pressure. That being said our tall forwards are pretty nimble so I wouldn't be vehemently against trying it in a game this season depending on how the upcoming weeks go.

I think at this stage once Marshall returns to full health you're essentially choosing between him and Georgiades for that 2nd tall spot assuming we stay with a 2 ruck combo. Westhoff stays out unless Ladhams or Georgiades need a rest for a game imo.
